Just wondering, there's one on a "certain auction site" (# 118274804) that has a bid of $900 and the reserve hasn't been met. It's got the box and paper, and is advertised as "new old stock" bought at an estate sale. Have these little guns appreciated that much ??

I bought one last summer locally. Not represented as unfired, but may have in fact been unfired. Box and papers. $375.00. I have a problem with the "new old stock" description. If it was bought at an estate sale then it had been sold retail making it (to my thinking) "as new" or "unfired". To me, "new" should only apply to anything that has not been sold at retail.

The 2" model 63 is all over the place as far as price. I just won a gunbroker auction this week, for a 2" 63 with box and tools, excellent condition, for $700 I am waiting on delivery from the seller.
One sold on gunbroker for $1300 about a month ago. I think thats an insane price to pay. However they are worth what someone will pay for it. Someone had bid $900 on the gun you mentioned. Seem alot to me, but thats just my opinion.

I bought one for $375 a few years ago. I guess someone got screwed on that deal

. Very neat little revolvers, but if folks are willing to part with a coolG for them I may have to rethink it's usefulness compared to other things.

That seems like a lot of money. On the other hand there weren't a lot made and they aren't making any more so.....................

I oaid $350 for mine quite a few years ago. A couple of years ago we founbd another and I actually had to talk my brother into my younger brother to pay the guy $375 for it.

I have a few Model 17s?K 22s and they are superb 22 RF revolvers. Great at the range etc.

On the other hand the 2" 63 is just perfect for carrying on your belt out in the wood.desert etc and shooting the occassional grouse, bunny etc.

If worse came to worse I wouldn't hesitate to use it with stingers etc as a CCW revolver. It wouldn't be my first choice of course but it also wouldn't be my last choice either.

Seet little guns. The real exspense was finding the 2" Target sighted Model 60 to go with it. ;-(

Golddog,
Sadly it isnt the way it was a few years ago. I made the mistake of waiting, and not wanting to pay the $500 price tag about 6-8 months ago. Just paid $700 for one. You snooze you lose I suppose.

Just paid 475.00 for a 95+ with box 4" 63. Fantastic little revolver. Had a 2" 34 years ago and the 4" is the better shooter IMO. Wish I would of kept the 2" though. I woudn't give over 500.00 unless it was in darn good shape and had the box. JMO

I felt that way also, as I stated. Waited 8 months, and paid $200 more than that. The gun is in 99+ shape with original box, tools and papers. I dont feel like I paid way too much, just a little.

I sold this one here on the classifieds two years ago for $375 plus shipping. It sat for two days with no interest and finally sold it to the only person who emailed.

I have followed the auctions also. In the past 6 weeks, 3 model 63's in 2 inch sold on G/B. I bought one of them for $700. Felt that was a high price, but with box tools and papers, I can live with it. Another sold for $1300., and the one you mention that hasnt hit the reserve yet. $1325, almost unbelieveable.
Glad I got mine though.

I have a NIB Lew Horton Model 63 2-inch I bought directly from Horton years ago. Is it worth more than the cited auction gun?

This is another example of Smith discontinuing desirable guns for which there is still strong demand.

I was always broke when I saw snubby 63's or 651's. Sigh. If I buy one, then Voila - SW will start to make the new 63 as a snubby- Which they Should!!

It's all I can do with my 4" 63 to shoot a decent group at 25 yards. Tell me pray tell, how do you do it with a 2"??? Good idea on paper but in all honesty, I don't see how anyone is going to hit anything with one at any realistic range.

JudgeColt,
The gun that sold for $1300, is a Lew Horton Gun.Mine for $700 is not a Lew Horton gun. Only difference I see is the box says Lew Horton, my original box doesnt.Same exact gun.
