How Much Coffee and Tea Do You Drink?

I usually have two big mugs of coffee in the morning.

After that, I suppose I have 3-5 cups of green tea.

I have both plain, with no added sugar.

For me, it's a large cup of coffee in the morning followed by an 18 oz. travel mug at work (both home-brewed), or a large iced from Dunkin c/o the missus. On weekends, I usually drink a cup or two of English Breakfast tea. (Yorkshire Gold for the win!)

Wife says I'm a caffeine addict. Considering I can't properly "start" my day without it, she may have a point. ;)

Coffee- 1-2 cups daily.
Tea - 1 (if drinking tea that day.)
Favorite tea- Lapsang Suchong, Scottish breakfast, and Highland blends are good too.

I used to be a heavy coffee and tea drinker. Also needed caffeine fixes throughout my workday, usually furnished by high-caffeine soft drinks like Mountain Dew.

My sugar intake was also high...soft drinks, junk food, lots of sugar in coffee (a double whammy there).

No more. In early 2012, I found out I had high blood pressure and an accelerated at-rest heart rate. Not awfully high, but enough to ring the warning bells. So I went caffeine-free. I no longer deliberately ingest caffeine from any source. I'm sure some slips by me, so we'll put the intake at maybe 1%.

Also found out my triglycerides were way too high. So I cut out all soft drinks and all unecessary sugar intake. Within 2-3 months my triglycerides dropped from (gasp!) 340 to 140.

It took me a long time to realize that the brief energy bursts I got from caffeine and the little pleasures I got from eating sugary junk food simply were not worth my health and well being. I realized that a lot of the stuff I ate was just sort of a combination of chemicals and preservatives...just garbage food.

I have not regretted cutting out all that stuff.

My coffee consumption shot way up the last time I tried to quit smoking,so now I still smoke...

No preaching from me, but you really should stop smoking.

I finally got scared enough to stop cold turkey after at least thirty-five years of smoking, perhaps longer. Nothing bad had happened to me, I just realized I'd probably shortened my life by at least ten years. That was almost four years ago, and I haven't picked one up since. Frankly, I hope I stopped in time.

Oh, and I've saved probably an average of at least $2,000 a year. That'd buy you a really nice Smith & Wesson. Or a totally cool reloading setup. Or a whole lot of ammo. Or a...well, you get the idea, don't you?

This link might help you.

I drink a 12 oz cup of black, unsweetened coffee before I leave the house.

I drink a 24 oz big cup on the way to school.

At school I drink approximately half a gallon.

I often make or grab another for the ride home.

I typically rewind with another cup, two, or three at the close of the day.

So all in all probably a gallon or so strong black coffee every day.

Tea? Not so much. But sometimes I like a lady grey or earl grey. I do brew some herbal concoctions for other things, but they are not tea from a tea plant.

Brewing herbs on the stove while black cat hangs in the hutch and watches sends a strong message. I have an image to keep up :D

Do you really want to reinforce the opinions of your students, Cap? :D:D

With that much coffee on board I'll wager you could play the Minute Waltz in eighteen seconds flat.

Yes, I do want to reinforce their opinions. That way I don't have to do it myself with office referral forms.

I can't play it at all. It's a piano thing. Keyboard is my nemesis.

2 cups of caffeine anything is about my limit, OK - 3 if several hours apart otherwise I go down with a cold or something in addition to feeling horrible and not being able to sleep. Think it might be because I used to drink gallons of the stuff when I was a kid, so developed a sensitivity to it maybe.

My grandson gave me a ceramic mug for Christmas. It's really very pretty and from a good potter. I love it and use it every day. It holds one quart; I make tea in it in the morning, usually Twining's Lady Grey, and sometimes I'll make another mug. If I have anything after that, it interferes with my sleep,no matter how much brandy I drink before I go to bed.

Naw, I don't drink either. I'm wound up normally without it.

But years ago when I was "playing cowboy," the other guys on the crew drank so much that I was seriously considering buying stock in the stuff.

We'd start the day at 0-dark thirty and sometimes wouldn't call it a day until late in the evening.

I remember the story of a very prim and proper San Francisco matron who was visiting a branding crew once and happened to ask one of the boys, "Young man, how much coffee do you drink in a day?"

The cowboy thought a moment and said, "Hmmm...I dunno...may 22 or 23 cups in a day."

"What??!!!" the lady exclaimed. "Doesn't that keep you awake???"

"No ma'am," the puncher replied. "But it helps.":D

I drink 8-10 12 oz. mugs of fresh roast, fresh ground coffee a day. I don't drink coffee any place but home. when I travel I carry a small coffee pot, grinder and bag of fresh roast coffee and water filter pitcher. When on the road I will make coffee bags like tea bags. I will stop and get a cup of hot water and soak the coffee bag. I am serious about my coffee.

I don't drink either. Never liked the taste of them. I drink milk with all my meals. I must have been very lucky or have very strong bones because in my 72 year of life, I have never broken a bone. With all of the falls, tumbles, spills, accidents, etc. I have encountered in my life time, I would have expected at least several broke bones! The Dr. says my bones are in excellent condition.
