How much did you pay for your M&P Shield?

$370 from my local gun shop.

I was in shock when I learned the price. I mean seriously, this little gun is by far the best sub-compact single stack 9mm on the market. The quality is unrivaled. The features are what you would expect in a modern fighting handgun... and it's only $370?

Not only that, the day S&W announced the handgun (I was at the NRA show that week in St. Louis) they started shipping them to dealers THAT WEEK. None of this rolling a new gun out then waiting 6 months for them to slowly appear on shelves, something other gun makers do to us.

S&W did everything right with the Shield.

I may sound like a S&W fanboy, but I'm not. I've been a Glock guy for decades when it comes to defensive carry guns. But the M&P and specifically the Shield have impressed me considerably.

$390 + tax at one of my LGS and a whole $5 more at the other (smaller Mom & Pop store).
(Same price for 9mm or .40)
The Mom & Pop shop had nobody on the wait list, while the larger store had a couple dozen names.

Now if I could only find someone with spare mags in stock! :)

The Beretta .380 and the Walther P88 are both hammer fired guns.
I'm trying to figure out why you are telling us that striker fired guns are inherently dangerous.

Do you think revolvers are dangerous also?

Just my opinion on striker fire pistols, got rid of the 380. The Walther P88 is somewaht different as it will not fire unless you completely pull the trigger, even if you pull the hammer as far as you can an release it will not fire. Anyway I just wanted a gun with a safety on it.

I got two prices locally on Wed.
Neither had the Shield in stock. Neither could get one at this time due to distributors being out with no time frame for additional deliveries.
Both quoted MSRP + tax + NICS, $480.00.
Neither was willing to budge on price.
Both had several inquiries about the Shield.
:(

Picked mine up at a local family owned sporting goods store. $419+tax. Theyve only received and sold one so far.

Picked up one in .40 S&W yesterday for $469 + tax & TICS. I knew it was over MSRP but I couldn't resist LOL.

I'm on the waiting list at my LGS, but they are charging $420 + tax for the Shield. More than what most are paying but not as bad as others.I've been going to that store for 12 years now and the 20+ employees know be by name when I come in and can even recognize that it's me over the phone. :D

I have lots of other shops to go to ,but they're 40min - 1hr away.Gas/transfer fees/shipping are all considerations when purchasing a gun online and with the Shield,it was no more than $19 in savings.

Got my 9 for $399 online plus shipping and transfer, then decided I liked it so much I had to have a .40. I just bought one online for $459... $10 over MSRP... life is too short to wait several months for them to become readily available at a discount. I figure I'll just skip a couple of restaurant meals and come out OK. None of my local LGS's have seen either caliber yet.

$395 + tax. LGS that likes me(I repair some firearms for them). The day after S&W announced release. My LGS knows I am an M&P fan.

BTW, If any noticed or looked, Yes, the Shield has a much better trigger reset. It looks to me that S&W changed the trigger return spring. It is definately bigger than M&P's in the past. I hope it is the same size, because I will use that spring in my FS M&P, hopefully.
Thanx, Guys
