How much did you pay for your M&P Shield?

Cabela's had my Shield 9 priced at $429. I asked them to match Academy's price of $389, which they did. I also got about $8 worth of "Cabela's Bucks" reward points, which I used for ammo, making my net pre-tax price $381.
 
I was at a LGS today and they wanted $500 for the 9mm Shield there's no way I would pay that rediculous price
 
I just purchased my Shield 9 here in Texas for $399.98, with tax it was $414.97. I could have saved $20 if I had gone to another store but didn't like the service there so figured it was worth the $20 to buy from someone I liked.

Fill out the 4473. Then they put that info into the DOJ website to start the background check. (It makes NICS look like a toy. It takes at least 15 minutes for a clear check, on up to an infinite time.) They then also ask you four additional questions:

Convicted of a couple of Penal Code sections (I'm assuming that these relate to domestic violence) in last 10 years.

If you're a danger to yourself or others pursuant to some WIC (Welfare and Institution Codes (the old "5150")).

Another question about being certified crazy.

If you are subject to a restraining order under Family Code (another domestic violence code I think.)

All of that info is sent off to the state to see if you are deemed ok enough to purchase.

And put me down for 379.99 + 31.25 tax = 411.24. Add in $25 for DROS, and another $25 for Firearm Safety Certificate because my Handgun Safety Certificate was expiring before I can pick up my pistol (in normally 240 hours, but they won't be open so I have to wait an extra 21 or so hours). Oh you thought they only screwed us out of $25? Hahaha. You can DROS one handgun and I think 4 or 5 long guns at one time (only one handgun from a dealer per 30 days, but you could buy a crate from a private seller at once). The previous HSC, and now FSC is a safety knowledge test. I think it's dumb, but on the other hand if you can't pass it, I'm not really sure you should be buying a gun. (Though I was informed by the sales guy I was the only one he saw take the test that knew the correct direction to point a firearm.) Test is waived for some people, CCW probably the most common).

Then at pick up you have a safe handling demonstration. Yeah, there's one in the pipe even after you take the mag out.

Shield 9mm

I bought my Shield 9mm for $369 before tax back in December of 2014 and have since put only 200 rounds through it. I installed Talon Grips and had my LGS install XS Big Dot Sights for me. I even ordered a custom left hand IWB holster from TT GunLeather. Tim did an excellent job on it for me too.
I am not a fan of the Shield like I thought I would be.
I am going to sell mine locally as soon as it is possible.
 
Standard 9mm Shield was $389 and Shield with laser was $519 and I bought the one for $519.

I know I could get a better price online but wanted to support the local dealer where I saw and handled the gun. The owner also new a lot about the Shield and the competative guns a well. Very good information helping me to make a good decision...

Sounds like a good reason to move to another state.
When I bought my Shield I filled out a 4473, paid and went home with it.
