how much did your 1st one cost

m60

I bought my first handgun from a PD dispatcher . Model 60 Chief Special for 150$ w/box and papers..... Used it in pin shoots and such . Still have it and carry it . Have 5 other J frames but love this one . TOM FD :)

A mod 36 I bought for $60 in 1966 at Gibson's in Austin Texas

In 1980 I put $180 into my first S&W which was a nickle plated 4" M-19 (don't remember what - number). I gave that to my father in Ga. for HD. While home from seminary on vacation I bought a 6" M-28-2 and a Bianchi 10L holster for $176. Since then I simply don't remember all the S&W revolvers and pistols I've traded for or bought. Several years ago I found a very nice M-28 virtually equivalent to what I once owned in seminary. I have been able to also find a very nice M-18-3 identical to what I had upon graduating seminary. I am trying to find a M-19 like the one I gave my father. My brother took it and traded it off. I am trying to find a 4" Ruger Mk. II.

Purchased my first S&W in 1967. Model 18, .22lr Combat Masterpiece with a 4" barrel. I paid $72.50 and I still have it. I have nothing newer that is built as well, looks as good or shoots as well.

I have bought and sold more than 50 since I purchased that first one and I only regret selling two of them. Both were 29's; one was a 4" and one a 6 or 6 1/2", I don't recall. Whatever Dirty Harry had is what I had. I have a few that I have kept, but none mean more to me than that first one.

It does my heart good to see "M28-2" and "seminary" in the same sentence. (Luke 22:36)

My first S&W was a K38 with 6" barrel. My Dad came home one evening from work ( he was an over the driver) with it, handed me the gun, and said " this is yours". I was about 16 at the time and thought it was the grandest revolver around. Dad's gone now, but the Smith is in my safe and every time I touch that gun, Dad's there too.

Fuzzy on details! 1959, Rod and Gun club in France.

S&W 22/32 KIT GUN, 4" barrel, 6 shot, revolver.

Number $53 sticks in my mind.

Traded it in mid sixties for a Ruger Single-Six.

model 36 no dash. purchased new at a pawn shop in Texas for $70 bucks in 1967.

My first, a 19-3 4" that I bought the day I turned 21 in 1980. Went all the way in to downtown Houston, to the big Oshman's and bought it for $250. Still have it.

The following year I found a brand new 4" Model 57, with presentation case for $300 or $325 (I don't recall off hand). I really wanted a Model 29 but they were few and far between and if you could find one they wanted more for them.

Still have both of those guns. In fact, I think I have only sold off two of the guns I ever bought, a Model 36 (dumb move) and my Glock 21.

My first Revolver of any make was a 4 inch model 28; paid $ 199 for it in 1983 at Wilson's dime store in Lavonia , GA. I still have it.

Model 17 8 3/8" barrel with a set of really bad home-made grips in V.G condition for $200.00 at a gunshow. I bought a set of K-frame combat grips on the way out for 6 bucks!!! This was about 7 years ago.
