how much did your 1st one cost

1982: New 6"model 28 from Em-Roe's in downtown Indianapolis for either $225 or $275. .38 wadcutter reloads were $5/box and factory .357's were $15/box. I realized I was going broke (working at minimum wage) shooting. Got a better job and saved up and got a used 6" model 17. That 17 sure helped me become a much better shot.

2nd model Hand Ejector. 44 SPL. $350 from my 1st phase FTO at my last agency. What a cool FTO! (yes, I was done the FTO program when i bought it.)

Then, a blued 58 for $700 :)

Then, the madness started :O

Model 10 in 1967

I paid $15.00 for it to a man that bought it for home defense and found his wife unwilling to keep it in the house. It was un-fired and came complete with box and papers.

A Model 60 stainless when they first came out for $110.00

Started out with a new Model 60.
$123 at Jensen's in Tucson. Still have the faded sales slip.
Southern Arizona was somewhat dangerous even back then.
Still with me all these years later:

Walked into a gun shop in 1980 and they had a new M10 with a 6" barrel. $150 OTD, Sure wish I'd have kept that one.

A Model 10-5 2in in nickle for $102 and a Model 49 in nickle for $98.50.

Both at the same time in 1971.

Blew my whole tax refund check....:D

My first Smith was a mint 4" 19 that I bought used in the late seventies for the sum of $125. Wish I still had it! I used to do a lot of trading in those days. My second was a full target 6" M17 for $250 I bought shortly thereafter. I still have that one.
I learned my lesson on the 19. No more horsetrading, I'm officially a hoarder!
My first ever handgun was a Ruger Standard Auto, purchased new in 1976 for the princely sum of $65. Little did I know what I was setting into motion!

.22 Kit gun, 2" bbl., blue RB, with leather holster and 10 50-round boxes of Remington ammo: $69.80 - Meir & Frank sporting goods dept. - Portland, OR - 1961

My first S&W I bought was a 29-3 silhouette. Brand new in 1984.
The price was $389.00.

The first gun I ever bought was a brand new 6'', model 586 no dash in 1981 for $232.

It was gorgeous.

Oh how I wish I had it back.
