How PA does it!

We've been pretty fortunate here in PA.

I lived in PA for a number of years, and couldn't wait to get out. I couldn't even think about the "Right to Work" tax without wanting to string up the nearest politician.

Regarding the earlier discussion about Texas CHL, maybe it's obvious to everyone here already, but that only applies to handguns. It is not illegal to carry a long gun openly on your person, although doing so for the purpose of "causing alarm" will get you a big legal defense bill.

Idk, i love Pa! I like the mix of being close to a big city yet still in the burbs. In the city i can get almost any type of food, shopping, entertainment. Im close to NYC (hour drive) and its nice to go there for a day to Manhattan or wherever. Summers are hot winters are cold....like it should be. And gun laws are excellent (yes one can nit pick little things)

Born in PA, lived around, always came back. We're not perfect, like any other State. Good and bad.

Had a CCP since '71. They were .50 a year then.

Just had our County Sheriff deny anybody passing a Fed background check from purchasing a Class III automatic or a "supressor". He won't sign-off. Have to form a "Trust" with legal $ to get around his denial. Horsehocky!

We're all in this together.

True we have open carry but to be polite to the criminal eliment I like the option of surprise.:D

It's a reasonable question. The only reason I open-carry: I'm waiting for ccw license to come in the mail. Until I have that permit, I refuse to be unarmed if I can help it.
Louisiana allows open-carry, and is shall-issue, but the permit process is not as simple as it used to be, and costs a few hundred when all is said and done ($125 for the license, $100-$150 for the class, cost of notary and FBI fingerprints). There's also a ton of people waiting in line. So there are a few small hurdles to cross until one may conceal.
I guess there are probably a few people who will have to be uncomfortable until that license gets here.

Heh, here in PA the CCW licensing is a breeze. I brought my 2 year old and 5 year old into the Sheriff's office on a Thursday. The ONLY thing that made the trip take longer than 15 minutes was the Sheriff's staff thought the kids were cute (I am totally biased on this one, but they really are!) and had to go find junior deputy badges for them. But I was in, handed them $20, and was out the door license in hand in less than a half hour.

No classes required, no high prices, no shenanigans. (Though I did spend another $25 on a shirt with the Sheriff's K9 unit on it [it helps feed and train the "doggy" and my kids fell in love lol]... well... and they got special pencils from one of the office workers... and we needed to talk to the deputies running the metal detector at the entrance to the county courthouse... All in all my kids thought it was a great trip heh)
