But I do think the jury's still out on cold weather attributes and long-term storage with the product.
Not at all. I know several people who live in cold climates and have no trouble with it when applied properly. There was a long term storage issue, but it has been addressed by the company and is no longer an issue.

As you can see in this thread, there are those that are stuck. Once, they heard from a third party, that there might possibly have been an issue so, the product is devil spawn. They have no proof, but they heard on the internet somewhere...
 
I am in the process of converting my 40C to FL. Disassemble the gun completely, firing pin assy, sear block, trigger assy, etc. Every little part is washed with brake cleaner to get rid any trace of oil. Will heat up the parts and apply FL tonight. Then clean up and reassemble.

I think the reason a lot of folks have trouble with FL is that there are still traces of oil left in the gun and they smear in FL and end up with a gunky mess. Even if you think you've cleaned your gun completely, there are still lots of nooks and crannies where oil still remains.
