If it is a S&W, you can look in the Standard Catalog of S&W. Often abbreviated here as the SCSW.

If you don’t have one, you can post your S&W pistol model and dash number, along with the SN here and someone will be along that has the SCSW and they can tell you.

I would not give the last 3 of the SN. Not needed for dating.

If you have a S&W revolver made from 1980 to Present, you can go to the correct Forum and there will be a thread at the top of the page where a member will tell you the approximate ship date. Usually, to within a month or so.

The serial number lists will give manufacture date, not ship date. Guns can sit in the S&W vault for years before being shipped.

The only way I know of to get ship dates is by asking Roy Jinks or getting a factory letter.
