How to poop with a CCW

I left my gun in a changing room once. Only for a few seconds, but it left its mark. Never done it since.

Back to the original question :):

Assume standard position for intended activity while holding onto belt and attachments. While seated, close belt 'loosely' and keep leg tension on sides of pants so gun does not flop onto floor. Stand carefully, as you may trip if you don't :). Reassemble attire and carry on smartly.

I would just leave it in the holster, I would hope that everyone looking under the stall that I'm in would see my gun, flippin perverted buttholes!!

I prefer to use the handicap stall because the stool is taller and it's easier on my back. I don't spend anymore time in there than I need to so if someone has to wait that's life. I've had to wait so long on a stall that I've been forced to leave and look for another restroom. Being a trucker for almost 40 years has taught me a thing or two about public restrooms. I've spent to many days driving for hours in pain because some butthead was reading or just paranoid to **** in public and would not give up a stall regardless of the situation. Myself, I would place the gun in my pants if need be and get out of there asap because life is to short to spend it in the crapper.

In an unnamed location I used to work at, I went to one of the bathrooms and found a Glock 22 .40 on the sink.......I got it back to the guy without anyone finding out......

Heard another story from another unnamed job where a doctor found a S&W 65 in the bathroom at a hospital, luckily he was cool and just gave it back.

Rule 1, don't forget your gun!

I just leave it holstered, I carry IWB and if someone reaches under the stall to grab my gun we have more serious issues at hand than trying to hide the gun while pooping. Before I leave the stall I make sure I have my wallet, keys, phone, gun etc.

Rule Number One: Is correct....

I've found all kinds of equipment left in the wilderness by those answerin' the call of nature.

Once found a holstered *Ruger Super Blackhawk hangin' by the gunbelt on a tree limb near a log....

*After a lit'l lost and found clip in the local newspaper it was re-united with is rightful owner.

I was on a roadblock with four other MP's during a riot in DC, armed with a shotgun, rifles, ammo, and lots of CS gas grenades among us, when one guy had to take a dump. We had been using a men's room in a gas station on the corner, so he headed over there. When he dropped trou and tried to sit down, he realized that his webgear was too bulky to get properly situated. He unhooked the web belt, shrugged out of the harness, and tossed the mass of straps and pouches on the floor. To his horror, one of the gas grenades went off, leaving him with pants down around his ankles, gas mask tangled therein, business on the way, rifle and gear on the floor, and the small room rapidly filling with the most noxious non-lethal stuff you could imagine. He pinched his loaf, grabbed his gear, and stumbled out of the room in a white cloud of gas, pants still around his ankles. We'd heard him yell and saw him emerge from the cloud, crying, coughing, drooling and puking, an image that is, to borrow a popular phrase, seared in my memory. I can't remember his name or see his face anymore, but I can still see that olive drab wraith with pale legs staggering out of the cloud of gas.
Now that's funny, and it triggered a forgotten memory: in '81 I was just arrived in El Salvador and there was a "small war" going on. I had just cleared customs and hit the head. As I walked into the mens room in the airport lobby I see two G3s propped in the corner. Right then a young fellow in uniform came out of a stall, picked up his rifle and waited for his partner to come out. His partner came out of the same stall...
They slung their weapons, smiled and went out.

Whatever.......

This comes up frequently and I really don't get the issue. Leave the gun in the holster on your belt. Do your business and then before you leave make sure your gun and holster are again covered. No need to take it out at all, far less risky that way.

Being female I always have to use public restrooms. I probably know the details of nearly very public restroom in every store we ever shop at ;-)

The biggest issue is making sure that the clothing is back in place before leaving.

Often there aren't any hooks so hanging something up (purse or gun belt) is not an option most places.

Also not letting pants etc. touch the floor is only good sense. So no risk of the firearm being seen by someone from the outside because the belt never gets below the level of the door.

My concern is making sure I find a stall that has a working lock.

Last night news did spot on the number of security people leaving their guns in the toilet stalls at the State Capitol Building, they are now in session,
seems like it's getting to be somewhat of a problem. Most were found by adults , but one loaded gun was found by a child .
If I were a security guard (one instance involved a Senator's Body Guard!) my gun would be the last thing I would leave in the rest room. What are they thinking!
I thought about this post! They need to read some of the tips so they won't forget their piece in the privy!

I think this is where women have an advantage over men.. We have purses... I have intestinal disease. This means I use the restroom a lot! I carry AIWB. When I need to use the restroom, I do put my purse on the hook. The hooks usually have a larger straight out hook and a smaller curved hook below the straight hook. I put my purse on the smaller hook. I make sure that the purse is within reach. If the hook is too far away, then I just keep wearing my purse. I take the gun holster and all (if I am using a sticky type of holster that day) and put it in my purse. If I am wearing a clip on holster, I carefully put the gun in my purse, on top of my stuff, slide down, and pointed away from people. I also always make sure that my thumb safety is always on. Personally, I do not care for CC guns w/o thumb safeties.

when on the rare and emergency status of public restroom use, i keep my pants up around my knees. don't want 'em on the floor if i can avoid it. hate the thought of public toilets but the need does arise. those are the days i hope i'm only pocket carrying...

pants halfway down the calf, spread legs enough they stay at that height, set pistol inside pants.

There are some restrooms with only one stall and one urinal, like in QuikTrip, and, guess what? The stall is a handicapped accessible stall with a changing shelf in it. Sorry, folks, but I ain't cr***ing myself for anyone.

Not all disabilities are visible. I just stare back at those waiting to use the stall when I exit. How do they know you're not "handicapped" in some way?

Now, after saying that, I rarely use the handicapped stall, because I don't want to inconvenience those who may truly need the room or facilities.

I am handicapped, but not wheelchair bound. The handicapped stalls are just larger for wheelchair access, not owned by the disabled. As in any other instance, people should just be thoughtful and courteous of others. That being said, I always remember the immortal words of Alfred E. Newman. '' Look before you flush, you may have dropped your wallet. '' :)

I have a son with cerebral palsy. He can walk, just barely. Sometimes he has to wait to use the crapper, sometimes I have to wait to use one. Such is life. The handicap stall is there so they have a place that they can use Sometimes they have to wait their turn just like everyone else.. I wouldn't take the handicap stall if another available, but if its open I am using it. I leave my gun in my pocket.
