How were the tools in the gold boxes packaged? I have some '56 and '57 that were packaged in paper glasine bags and then the plastic bags. So how were the ones from the early 50's packaged?

I saw a "K38" on GB a couple months ago with a muzzle brake like the one pictured. I wanted it bad. It was much later, it had a blue box. Only had enough cash for 1. I bought one that shipped in 1949 to go with my K22 that shipped in 48. What are the odds I'll find & be able to afford a K32 from 1947 or 1950? LOL...... What a dream to have. Anyway, that brake is really cool. Boy did I want to buy both of those 38's.
Noticed these the other day while looking for other parts:

Says they are in stock. Should be able to add to collection for less than $40 shipped. Hope this helps!

F75...It is a muzzle brake for the K-38. It is the only one I have ever seen. It is marked S&W.

Bill, was that K-38 shipped with the muzzle brake? I've asked a couple times here on the forum through the years, but never could get any real sense for when muzzle brakes first appeared - either for .38's or .45's. I know the brakes for the K-38's are much less common than those for the .45's....
I've got two K-38 muzzle brakes, one has a slotted screw and the other has an allen screw. I always assumed the older one would have the slotted screw....![]()
Any wisdom to share?
