You are truly fortunate if you can celebrate your Sixty-Fifth with friends, doesn't have to be a crowd. True friends are priceless and if you can count a few you are blessed. I hope you have a great time and many more ahead.
I'm going to be 65 in about 3 months. My plans are to go get some Culver's for lunch, a couple of fish sandwiches, fries and Pepsi. And for dinner, some egg rolls and shrimp fried rice, washed down with more Pepsi. If it wasn't bad for me, I would drink the stuff by the gallon with almost every meal. I love it to almost a ridiculous level.
I turned 65 fourteen years ago and celebrated by quitting my job and quietly walking away. I gave my boss 2 months notice and insisted that no retirement ceremony be staged. She honored my request except for a brief beers after work with our small group of co-workers. I was very concerned that there was trouble ahead in our investment department and wanted out. Little did I know how bad the financial catastrophe of 2008-2010 would be. All members of the group I was in are working elsewhere.
My wife kept working past 65 until her boss came under unrelenting pressure to leave. The situation was taking a toll on my wife so I asked her to quit and she did. Coincidently her boss quit the same day.
