How would you survive this scenario?

Even when I was living in the City of Detroit, this scenario was well down on my list of scenarios that I felt the need to "prepare" for based on the statistical and common sense likelyhood of it happening.

Whatever happened to cops being concerned over the citizens they protect? That used to be their first concern. Unfortunately that is not the case for a large portion of them now. Not all and maybe not most. But too many.

Utter nonsense. Police have never ever been more accountable and more "careful" than they are today. In the "good old days" you seem to be referencing, if the police really wanted to get into your house, they would merely have a friend call 911 at a pay phone and create probable cause plus exigent circumstances by calling in a phony run. That doesn't happen anymore for various reasons.

Seems like we have an internet hysteria where people see an anomaly take place 2000 miles away and say: "Oh my God! That could have been me! I need to get armor piercing bullets and reinforce my safe bunker and train the family on how to utilize their go bags and BUGS!" This happens a lot when people can blame "The Police" for their fears of an untimely death. How come when some fatty hears about the heart attack their buddy had cutting the grass they don't post a thread that says: "Oh my GOD! That could have been ME! I better start eating some celery and put down the Twinkies and get on the treadmill!" I know, I know.... "I CHOOSE to be fat, but I don't choose to have the police raid my house with an evil "no knock" warrant like they did to that other guy!

Much sexier to justify your purchase of a command bunker by rationalizing rogue cops on the loose as a reasonable threat to be worried about.

Our judicial system isn't perfect. Be we all know that don't we?

Twice I was put in dangerous situations by cops. Bad intel turned out to be the problem.

The first time when I was much younger, the local PD called and asked if we could go out and help them with a search warrant. I show up and they escort me to the front door of the house. But first they made me but vest on. The bullet proof kind. I didn't know what to think. They asked me to pick the lock on the front door. I asked why they didn't just break down the door? They said that the guy wasn't there and they didn't want him to know they were there. I looked at the warrant and verified the address. Everything seemed in order so commenced in picking the lock. I am very good at picking locks but my hands were shaking so bad that I wasn't doing very well. I looked behind me and all the officers were behind their cars about 30 yards away.

About five minutes later I here movement behind me and several officers are running towards me with guns at the ready. One of them saw movement inside the house. THE GUY WAS HOME!!

Then they decide to break down the door. Bad guy didn't resist and they hauled him away.

I wasn't too happy knowing that I could have been shot through the door. Police Sargent apologized and explained that officers had been watching the house for days but didn't realize that the bad guy parked several blocks over and walked through the woods entering the back of the house.

He signed my invoice and I left.

I won't bore you with stories about the second time it happened. But lets just say that I'm always armed no matter what the cops say. And I learned much.

You never know.

All that says is just how bad it USED to be.

Look at just how blatant the Kathryn Johnston case was and reflect on the sweetheart deals that her killers got. Citizens would have been charged with felony murder. In Illinois, before the moratorium, citizens probably would have gotten the death penalty.

If you check out local online comment sections, there are often apparently organized libel campaigns.

I'm not sure how the casual observer can use the comment section from a news article to determine the existence of an organized campaign . . .

When SO many posts say exactly the same thing, which was NEVER an issue in the media, something is up.

Did you EVER see (if you did at all) accusations that Carolina Obrycka is an "illegal alien", outside of online comments sections? Given the history of the case, and the JUDICIAL DETERMINATION of police intimidation of the victim, her employer and witnesses, are you really willing to dismiss out of hand an organized campaign against her on Abbate's behalf?

The chances of law enforcement serving an unannouced warrant on my property for any cause, mistaken or otherwise, is one helluva long shot. I don' think I'll get wrapped around the axle worrying about it. Anyone shows up at our place is going to have to defeat an early warning system before they gain entry.

Don't be so sure.

I've been following the case from when it broke in the media. There was a conspiracy against the victim (and her employer, and witnesses) from day one, and that was proved in court.

I simply cannot believe that the IDENTICAL online attacks on the victim were mere coincidence.

In your "it was better back when" days: The former narcotics detective would have never admitted anything, he would have stayed on the job long enough to finance his retirement with stolen drug sales and stolen cash.

The Ex-deputies never would have been charged and the other cops would have lied for them. Plus you never would have heard about it. Same for the "sexually harassed by judge" one.

You can post all of the anecdotal "evidence" you want, but the things I mention in my post are facts. Yep, malfeasance still goes on and on, but in DRASTICALLY reduced numbers since the "good old days" you reference when Officer Friendly was recruited from a Norman Rockwell painting and straightened the juvenile delinquents out with an ice cream cone. Back then reality was more like: you mouth off to the cop and you get a blackjack upside your head because the flashlights of the day couldn't stand up to use as an impact weapon.

Minneapolis cops served a no knock on a second floor apartment. Wrong address, and they made so much noise coming up the stairs that the Hmong resident thought gangs were attacking and started shooting through the wall with a shotgun and scaring a few cops, who were returning fire. No bill. Self defense. The gun is legal for hunting and his supposition of gang attack was reasonable considering the area.

On December 16, 2007, Vang Khang's Minneapolis home was mistakenly raided by the Minneapolis Police Department. The intrusion led to a shootout between Khang and the officials. Also present in the house at the time was Khang's wife, Yee Moua, and their six children.

On Monday, July 28, 2008, however, the same policemen who mistakenly shot at the innocent Khang family, received medals of valor and commendation. Eight of the officers involved in the raid received medals for their work in the line of duty at City Hall. Sgt. William Palmer has said that the raid has been acknowledged as a mistake and has apologized to the family, but that the officers performed, "very bravely under gunfire and made smart decisions."

I have no reason for police to forsably enter my house. If someone keeps coming when the alarm goes off. Say hello to Mr. Winchester and his 8 Slugs. I may not live through it but, they WILL know I was home. If, for some reason, it's the Cops and I don't realize it, sucks to be me.
