How'd you spend your Saturday?

I did my 5 Hours of annual service at the outdoor Gun Club today. We made new Target Frames, trimmed a few branches, and did a general clean up. A gorgeous day for working outdoors.

Just got back from an IDPA match, won't know my score until tomorrow afternoon when it gets posted to Practiscore but I usually finish in pretty much the same place most of the time. Not much chance of improvement given my age various maladies, but it's still a fun way to kill some time (and targets):D

Well lets see. I moved a bunch of stuff (unnecessary) in the garage and got out a couple of Water Wagons (one new in the box) and took pictures of them. Got out my Evinrude (1976) 2 hp outboard motor and put it in a test tank and it started on the 3 rd pull. Checked the water pump and ran it for a while. For you guys that are not familar with a Water Wagon they are bass fishing rigs for 1 person. Put every thing back where it was and cleaned up. Went across the street and visited with my neighbor. He is building a 10' X 12' outbuilding. I will help him tomorrow set the rafters and such. My day went fast and the wind was down to about 20 mph for a change and it got to 90 degrees and was nice.

Well, you asked!!:D

woke up before sunrise, grabbed my coffee and headed to the turkey blind-the tom I had gobbling his head off on roost, flew down and found a real hen....and off they went in the wrong direction, beautiful morning so not a complete fail. Back to the house, took the family out shopping for trees, plants, flowers, etc for the yard/garden. Watched the Cards game on TV and fell asleep with my daughers on the couch. Woke up several hours later and had an adult beverage on my front porch while I watched the wife work in the yard. All in All....a perfect day :D

Watched some soccer, golf and STTNG. Cleaned and refilled the hummingbird feeder and saw one working the wall for bugs in the dusk. Interesting sight. Checked some gun auctions and also looked at prices some stuff is fetching on EBay for sis-in-law. Doing some computer maintenance right now. Will watch more soccer from Australia later. I might even shave later.

Shaving?? On a weekend??!!! LOL, I'm at the point in life now when I only shave on weekends if I have a date....don't usually shave ahahaha.

Well... lemme see...

Got up late which was as planned, so far so good.

Drank coffee and organized my marbles while checking out various sites like this.

Brain energized, I set about the domestic duties, bathroom scrubbing, dog washing, Laundry including the bed and throw rugs.

So... Round about 1p I was setting up my kit for the gun class where I am assistant rangemaster and safety nazi. I'm the guy that stands behind the students keeping it safe and helping - and - logging the burgers.

I had some rifle and pistol powder to demonstrate how they burn, as well as some primers I picked up off the floor of the reloading room over the last year, nothing I would use, but they'd ignite and that's all we're looking for.

So, I picked out a few nice examples of concealment guns - Beretta 21A and a 649-2, grabbed my DW CBOB and I was almost out the door when...

Business phone rang.

A customer with a recurring problem. DAMN!!!!

So I shelved my plans and went across town only to find the new component I put in her machine failed AGAIN! Factory new, second time with a new part. Nothing wrong otherwise, everything in spec.

DOUBLE DAMN!

Did what I could to get her running because I didn't have another spare and nowhere to buy on a Saturday.

So that ate up my afternoon and thankfully I was able to get a message of to the school and take care of business. I owe the school extra next week.

Pissed off doesn't even cover it.

Factory new parts, probably China made ****. I can get a new part, but who pays the labor? No one, that's who.

AND

Had a NSF check returned to me today from a customer that I did outstanding service for. He told me how he was going to pass my business along to other Real Estate people, etc, yada yada yada.

I told him I didn't have good experience with Real Estate people, but was willing to give it a go. They are predictable out here.

Typical, couldn't write a good check. That and I got nicked $10 for the NSF.

I'm going to hunt him down.

So, that was my day.

got up about 8:30, had my morning iced coffee. played on the computer for a couple of hours. had lunch at 12:30 and packed guns and ammo for a range afternoon, finally got some decent weather. shot the hawkeye, my new to me ruger maximum, the sig 210 with the 22lr kit, a longslide 10mm, a gold cup, an sti Trojan, a model 60-4, colt officers match 22. guess that's is all for this trip. almost forgot, took a good cigar with me. haven't had one for a while. tomorrow watch the race and sort brass.

Repairing the wiring on the captains stick shaker, with a short diversion changing a main 777 battery.

Went to an antique car show at a local retirement community in the morning, then went home to wash my car for the first time this season.

I went to town on the car, spent about 3 hours detail-cleaning it to get the winter grime off; under the hood, in the wheel wells, everything...

Then, almost as soon as I finished washing the car, it rained.

I then spent about two hours in my garage, doing what my ex used to call 'bonding': sweeping, cleaning, and straightening up, while drinking a few beers and listening to music...(Carbon Leaf in this case)....

Not a bad day all-in-all... :)

I HATE to paint!!!

Decided to paint my railings on my front porch at about 1:30. Scraped them then went to the Home Depot to buy the paint and other necessities for the job. Came home and painted until about 7:00. Cleaned the brush and myself with mineral spirits.

BTW, did I tell you that I HATE to paint and I suck at it!!

Today, I will finish the job. It may not look great upclose, but it will look fine from the street and I won't have to do it again for a few years.:)

I HATE to paint!!!!!

Next time, maybe I will pay someone else to do it.

Up at 0600, (like every other day), met some friends at the local greasy spoon. After breakfast, headed up to the gun show at Birch Run.

My wife and son and I went to Vilonia, Arkansas, and helped distribute food and supplies to the victims of the devastating tornado that demolished the city last week. Seems to be under reported in the media, but over 400 homes were completely destroyed and most of the business section was wiped out.

On a positive note, the volunteer coordinators reported that over 5,000 volunteers signed in to help which is second to only Hurricane Sandy.

Digging up a sprinkler main line, installing a T, a cutoff valve, and a bleed valve for new water well hookup. Today I'll dig the trenches to the well head for the main line and from the house to the well head for the electric. Next weekend install the double check and disconnect/cap the city supply. Net result will be about $600-700/mos in my pocket during the watering months.

My wife works weekends and since I'm retired now I did housework Saturday. In between loads of laundry I was on some gun boards and grilled some burgers for my dinner.
I don't do gun shops weekends anymore or the range as I visit weekdays now when it's not so crowded. I'm not seeing any older S&Ws here on my visits though but did buy a Sig 1911-22 on my last visit. Nice gun and now that my household chores are done I may take it out back and shoot it again.
I could probably go to a gun show today but don't really have the money for any more guns right now and besides I can usually do better in the LGS. I won't go into the usual complaints about them but they're not so much fun anymore.

Our whole street had a yard sale yesterday. It was a beautiful day and we had a bunch of cars/customers coming through. It was also great seeing neighbors browsing and stopping by for some small talk.

But we had a couple of people they pretty much insulted me with their offers. That's just ridiculous and I just had to shake my head...

Re-tiling the front porch. Didn't leave the house except to go to Lowe's because of a tourist influx from the west side, and that was only because the tile saw gave up the ghost and I had to get a new one.

I spent yesterday installing somebody's new Windows 8 PC and copying their old data from the hard drive of the previous machine, which died.

Went to the North East Ohio S&W Forum meet at North Olmsted Sportsmen's Club. Had a good time and ate a lot.
Good group of S&W devotees getting together for bull sessions and showing off their favorites.:)

Awake @ 0530. Morning routine. Decide what weapons to take to the range. Decided on Trap gun. Arrived at the range without pouch and belt. Shot from the 16 (22) and 27 (18). Scores should get better once I get used to shooting from a sitting position. Not at all as comfortable as standing but there is a whole lot less pain from not standing. Got some sun. A bit too much but hey I was at the range and having fun. Can't beat that even with a stick. All in All a perfect day.
