I HATE to paint!!!

Decided to paint my railings on my front porch at about 1:30. Scraped them then went to the Home Depot to buy the paint and other necessities for the job. Came home and painted until about 7:00. Cleaned the brush and myself with mineral spirits.

BTW, did I tell you that I HATE to paint and I suck at it!!

Today, I will finish the job. It may not look great upclose, but it will look fine from the street and I won't have to do it again for a few years.

I HATE to paint!!!!!

Next time, maybe I will pay someone else to do it.

Up at 0600, (like every other day), met some friends at the local greasy spoon. After breakfast, headed up to the gun show at Birch Run.

My wife and son and I went to Vilonia, Arkansas, and helped distribute food and supplies to the victims of the devastating tornado that demolished the city last week. Seems to be under reported in the media, but over 400 homes were completely destroyed and most of the business section was wiped out.

On a positive note, the volunteer coordinators reported that over 5,000 volunteers signed in to help which is second to only Hurricane Sandy.

Digging up a sprinkler main line, installing a T, a cutoff valve, and a bleed valve for new water well hookup. Today I'll dig the trenches to the well head for the main line and from the house to the well head for the electric. Next weekend install the double check and disconnect/cap the city supply. Net result will be about $600-700/mos in my pocket during the watering months.

My wife works weekends and since I'm retired now I did housework Saturday. In between loads of laundry I was on some gun boards and grilled some burgers for my dinner.
I don't do gun shops weekends anymore or the range as I visit weekdays now when it's not so crowded. I'm not seeing any older S&Ws here on my visits though but did buy a Sig 1911-22 on my last visit. Nice gun and now that my household chores are done I may take it out back and shoot it again.
I could probably go to a gun show today but don't really have the money for any more guns right now and besides I can usually do better in the LGS. I won't go into the usual complaints about them but they're not so much fun anymore.

Our whole street had a yard sale yesterday. It was a beautiful day and we had a bunch of cars/customers coming through. It was also great seeing neighbors browsing and stopping by for some small talk.

But we had a couple of people they pretty much insulted me with their offers. That's just ridiculous and I just had to shake my head...

Re-tiling the front porch. Didn't leave the house except to go to Lowe's because of a tourist influx from the west side, and that was only because the tile saw gave up the ghost and I had to get a new one.

I spent yesterday installing somebody's new Windows 8 PC and copying their old data from the hard drive of the previous machine, which died.

Went to the North East Ohio S&W Forum meet at North Olmsted Sportsmen's Club. Had a good time and ate a lot.
Good group of S&W devotees getting together for bull sessions and showing off their favorites.

Awake @ 0530. Morning routine. Decide what weapons to take to the range. Decided on Trap gun. Arrived at the range without pouch and belt. Shot from the 16 (22) and 27 (18). Scores should get better once I get used to shooting from a sitting position. Not at all as comfortable as standing but there is a whole lot less pain from not standing. Got some sun. A bit too much but hey I was at the range and having fun. Can't beat that even with a stick. All in All a perfect day.

I umpired a double-header, then went to a local micro brewery and sampled some beer. Then went home and had some more beers while playing pool in my man-cave till 3a.m.

Got up early and did some yard work, sat down in my lawn chair with some 90 proof sour mash whisky. Got back up and did my laundry and while it was washing climed back in my lawn chair, put a match to my weekend cigar and drank some more sour mash whisky. I don't much recall what happened after that.

Did some honey dos,sorted through my clutter and sold some grips,added some photos to my listing for my 99% python.Took a pair of vintage 22s up in the hills and plinked some pine cones.All in all a nice day.

OK, I'm doing a Sunday update!

Dug most of the trench to get the electric to the well. Had an "ooops" moment with the sprinkler line running to the zone out back. That wasn't supposed to be there! Had to use the sharp shooter for most of it as I was crossing the gas line. After I passed the marking for the gas is when I picked up the Mattock to get my 18 inches of compacted sand and clay. About a foot later it was raining

An interesting weekend... yesterday and today the wife and I "helped" (more like fetched things and carried wood, etc) a local artist build some driftwood art pieces. They are going to be displayed in our downtown area.

Work at 02:30. Worked until 16:00, came home, cleaned up, and went to bed so I could get up at 02:00 and be to work at 04:00 Sunday.
Now I'm off for 4 days.

Saturday I picked up my dog from the vet hospital. She was in from Monday. Thought we might loose her a few times, a real roller coaster ride. She is doing well. We got some oxegen just in case, but haven't needed it much. She had pneumonia on top of her cushings and diabetis and now bronchitis. She is a fighter, and feeling better. It's always day by day around here. Today is a great day.

My oldest son and I went to the local range. Spent about two hours there until we were out of ammo. Then I came home and took a short nap. Grilled a steak and washed it down with half a bottle of red wine. Cleaned a bunch of pistols til about 10 pm. Very enjoyable day. Did I mention my wife went to visit her mom?

Saturday started with the monthly breakfast at the HOA clubhouse. Cinqo de Mayo themed, which meant build your own breakfast wrap with vaguely mexican ingredients, with sausage and scrambled eggs on the side. Ho-hum, but I'm on the board, so I like to show up for these every now and then.

Then off to the feature event of the day. The new owner of my '98 Triumph Thunderbird Sport was coming to deliver the cash and take the bike away. As I pulled out my old paperwork on it, I realized that it was exactly 10 years to the day from when I signed for it at the movers when it arrived from the seller in Georgia.

Once that was completed, we turned our attention to the '72 Triumph Trident which was ready to hit the ground after its second "gentle restoration". It's much better this time, with a build up from bare frame, and a bit warmer than normal engine. Tickled the Amal carbs, kicked it through a couple of times with key off, another quick tickle, key on, and it started right up on the first kick. It sounds wonderful with a new big bore exhaust and the race head.

Off to the DMV tomorrow to get tabs, and turn on the insurance, and I'll be riding it home first sunny afternoon.

Back home to make mint juleps, Kentucky brown derby sandwiches and bourbon chocolate pecan pie, and joined Mrs. B. for her favorite sports event on the tube. Lots of build-up to 2 minutes of activity!

My much better half, Wanda and I played hunter gatherer. I hunted turkeys with my 100 year old A.H. Fox AE 12 Gauge and she picked morel mushrooms. The Fox with its 32 inch full and full barrels should be a great turkey slayer; at least I hope it slays a turkey. I struck out on the turkeys and Wanda picked a few pounds of black morels.

Today the gather won the day.

Used my new workshop. Hung some paintings in the new house, then back down to the workbench to Renwax a few revolvers, and attack an old percussion cap double gun that I found buried in a closet. RUSTY

Another day in Paradise ..... usual, up at 5am, drinking lots of coffee, couple hours on the computer. Poking around outside, doing a little yard work, cleaning the back patio, trying to kill time while waiting for the Bruins vs Canadians playoff hockey game. Run out finally around 11am to pick up some sliced Honey Ham and cheese for lunch sandwiches and some tobacco for the wifes cigarettes, had to do some rollin for her... But there was my chance to stop into my LGS... he finally got the 386XL Hunter in he had been telling me about, beautiful gun, but not liking the price tag he put on it.... reluctantly told him I'll take it, but not so sure about it after more research this weekend..
Watched the Bruins finally wakeup half way thru the 3rd period, flipped back and forth watching the Red Sox take out Oakland.... then finally loaded up the range bag with some toys, (M&P380, 945-3", The Govenor and my Berretta CX4 Storm 45acp carbine.... 1.5hrs of tearing up the targets!! Had to hustle as I also planned to run down to Costco and pickup some NY strip steaks for the wife and I... they closed at 6pm.. had to settle for a couple of ribeyes from the local grocery store, they sucked compared to Costco.. other than that , had a pretty good day... just regretted not getting to Costco sooner..

I drove 90 miles south and shot my Anschutz Match 64 in the state small bore silhouette championships. I tied another shooter for last place in AAA. This is the first state shoot I have shot in in 12 years and I had a real good time and saw many faces I had not seen in 12 years. I also bought 3 boxes of .22 Hornet for $15.00 each and a Leupold BR 24X target scope for $425.00.
