Howdy, time to get my first revolver . . .

trrigger, welcome from North Carolina. You came to the right place for good information.

You're in the right place, lots willing to help. A couple of questions: What do you want to use the gun for; are you an experienced handgunner; and what is you home/family situation (young children around)?

Just some food for thought.

Hey all, single, no children, not dating, couple of cats, bookish, quiet, old (50's) . . . and let's just say I live in a neighborhood that's becoming scary there are so many breakins.

This will be my first gun and I've got classes lined up just to show you how seriously I take the training and safety end of this. Look, I'm a mild-mannered insurance agent and a wanna-be sci-fi writer, but the neighbors have been broken into twice now and I just want to be able to protect myself in these days of quotidian gloom. :(

I'll meet up with you all in the regular forum so we can get down to business. Thanks for the friendly reception.

A 4" Smithy K frame or L Frame would be my suggestion i.e a Model 10, Model 15, Model 19, (the stainless versions are 64,67, and 66) . The L Frame that I like is the 686.

Get plenty of 38 special ammo and practice. If the grips don't fit you too well you can easily buy different grips to fit you better.
