If anyone is watching the updates on The Weather Channel, could someone please tell them to throw the catfish into deeper water. Some act like they have never seen a catfish before.

Flooding is no easy task to deal with. It hasn't passed by us yet, and we are on a septic tank where we live. We are right in its path. Been raining pretty good for a day and a half so far, and Debby is slowing down again. Good luck, everyone.

We had 5-6" of rain but nothing else to report. Wind was about 45mph but after Hurricane Ian (Cat5) that seems like a gentle breeze. We are not in a flood zone and our new construction home is built to the latest hurricane spec's. We also have a 22K natural gas Generac so we are in good shape going forward. I always keep enough stuff for emergency's anyway. That said, I fear the intense lightning here more than the hurricanes!

Deeper water Hell! Fill up the cooler.

Charlie, Your reply was my first thought had there been more.

We have a local restaurant where we used to get a fried catfish meal for $9.99, all you could eat fried catfish. Can't remember if it was all week long or certain days. Hush puppies, cole slaw, french fries, and keep the catfish coming. Those were the days.

We have one here that opened back in the 1950's. Then it was all you can eat whole catfish with fries, slaw and baked beans for $1.50. It's burned down twice. Now it's a buffet with shrimp, crawfish, oysters, fillets, and a lot of other stuff for $33.00. Same family still owns it. Grand kids in charge. I still go there a few times a year. now.

Good luck to any that is in the path of this storm.

Our weather guessers are predicting tropical rain coming.

For us the house is on the side of a hill, no flooding. Whats not known yet is how much repair work will my hilly gravel driveway need in repair if it gets that bad again!

In many places in the US, 5 inches or so of rain can be considered a genuine natural disaster and bona fide emergency. In Florida, however, we have a name for that kind of storm - we call it "Tuesday"! :D

Yup, here are two examples of what 6'' of rain can do around here. Roads, houses...and unfortunately people...washed away. This was last week. Not looking forward to the remnants of this one, just a few inches of rain will cause flash floods.

I got a few light showers from the storm.

This is the driest summer I've had since I moved here in 2001.

It's like some kinda vortex over my house. Might pour rain a mile away, but not here.

About 2-3" here in Central NJ, flash floods, local flooding in the lower areas. Lots of overbuilding here in the last 40+ years, too much building in low areas with poor drainage, clay. e.g. We have had a pretty dry summer, had a couple of brief downpours that softened up the ground enough to absorb the water. I note that even with gray skies the grass in my development looks a lot greener.

Who got the catfish? I gots to know.
My catfish story was over somewhere up a dirt road in a copse of trees in Mississippi somewhere just over the border with Louisiana, around Poplarville if I remember correctly. Little house with a sign that said "Fried Catfish". Anyway they had two meals. Catfish platter with fries hushpuppies and slaw for $5.99 and the all you can eat catfish platter for $7.99. We inquired as to how big was the regular platter. She told us to just order the catfish platter for $5.99 and that if we were still hungry we could upgrade to the all you can eat platter for the extra $2. :D
Drink choices were but two-sweet tea or unsweet tea.
Back in the day.......
