Just to ask...

Does anyone have any phobias that are interesting?
No, not the usual ones like snakes or spiders or heights or anything, but something plumb unusual...

You know...like the fear of cheese, ants, Coca-cola in glass bottles, Glocks or something.

Just asking.

I've got one. I'm scared of paying too much for a new gun. :p

I never bought anything that someone didn't tell me later he could have gotten better for half as much..............

I have a phobia of being trapped at a social function by such a person
(you shoud be buying cardboard futures...my cousin hymie can set you up an account...whats your cell phone number.....trade off that Dodge and buy an Escalade from Harry......)

Ants, especially the giant irradiated man eating type.

I can't have people touch my neck, get near my neck, or really even pretend to. I uncontrollable swing to get whatever is near my neck away. I can barely stand to wear ties or tight shirts.

About 3 weeks into my first job out of college, my boss came up to give me a pat on the shoulder for a job well done. Too close to the neck for me and I hit his arm away pretty aggressively. Lucky for me he is an awesome guy and just started laughing uncontrollably (most likely because of the future fun he knew he could have torturing me).

I really do have one thing that does bother me...

And that is of being cut with a knife.
Sure, I use knives every day- but pull one on me and see what happens.

Only had it happen twice.
Once by a hoodlum, and once by a girl I courted.
She wanted to cut me and see me bleed. I took her home promptly and didn't ask her out again.
That was the first time I learned about "cutting," and that was decades before I saw it on the news.

I just can't stand it to see a young, beautiful chick looking at me, winking at me and flirting with me... I just can't stand it!... I just have to grab her and hold her in my arms and give her a long juicy kiss - please, some one wake me up before a have a wet one! :p

Fear of being unarmed...ever since my dad was held up at gunpoint back in '55 when I was about the same age as my eldest grandson. Didn't realize it until it got me in trouble a couple of months ago...fortunately not too serious, but expensive.

I can't stand yogurt. It's not that I just don't like it, I can't be near it. Just the smell of it makes me gag uncontrollably. I just can't be near someone eating it.

Luposlipaphobia....fear of being chased around a kitchen table by wolves, in my stocking feet, on a freshly-waxed floor.

This girl didn't live in Detroit did she?:p

I know you said nothing "normal" like heights, but what's strange is I can walk right up to the edge of a cliff, like the Toroweep overlook near the north rim of the Grand Canyon, and look straight down at the Colorado River 3000 feet below and it doesn't bother me. Guys at work can't believe where I drive my Jeep -- like on "cliffhanger" type trails.

But inside a building, like the boiler building here at work, and I look over the hand rail and see the ground floor 200 feet below me, then I get feeling weird.

+1 on sitting with my back to a door. Anytime I go to a restaurant, be it with girlfriend, buddies, or family; they all know to let me sit w/my back towards the wall, not the door.

As far as an odd one...I'm scared of owls. When I was a kid, this ol' great horned owl lived in a tree outside of my second floor bedroom. He'd bring rabbits up there in the middle of the night and kill them. Have you ever heard a rabbit scream? Ghastly! I'd have dreams where the characters in them would hoot instead of talk...they'd turn their heads all the way around like an owl, then hoot at me. I'd wake up and that ol' owl would be out there hooting. Beautiful, graceful animals...that scare the hell out of me.

No real phobias - also will rarely sit with my back to a door, comes with the territory. Am also very reluctant to be cut with a knife.

speaking of not setting with your back to the door. We use to go to drive inns when I was young. The first time I went to a movie theater I got the creeps people were setting so close behind me in the dark theater. It took a while to adjust to that.

My biggest fear has always been little kids choking on food.
I look at food made for toddlers and think they are designed to choke kids!
Little pretzel rods that get slimy after a 2yr. old gnaws on them awhile that are a perfect fit in a kids throat!
Vienna sausages that kids eat,, and tons of other foods and candies out there just waiting to choke a kid!!!

These foods are EVERYWHERE!,, EVERYWHERE!!!,, I tell ya!

I'm not paranoid about it .
It's true I tell ya!
It's a conspiracy by the FDA to choke kids !!

Yep,i have a big fear of walking into a spider web,I did twice as a kid and freaked out.To this day if i get to close to one i get skiddish as heck.I feel like i can't get away, then from nowhere there will be millions of little spiders coming from the edges of the web to bite me and lay eggs on me and making me their meal.HOLY S#%$ my skin crawls just thinkin it(going to take a shower now)

CLOWNS.... I don't think I'm afraid of them, I just don't like them.

My apologies to anyone here on the forum that might be a CLOWN... but I don't think they're funny. I'm not sure why they think they are. I think they're kinda strange.
