I have resolved the issue with Turners and they sold me the Sigma. I have to wait the ten days Comifornia mandates. Over all I am happy with the way things turned out. I am going to pick up a grip for it and shoot the heck out of it.

How do you guys think the gun shoots out of the box? On my first and only outing the groups I was shooting was good but I was shooting a little low and to the left?

Thx for all the advice and I hope to gain a lot of knowledge from this sight.

Welcome to the club, diego!

Glad you got it all worked out. I did predict that you would soon be a ligit sigma owner.

Low and left is the most common problem reported by sigma owners as well as many other guns too. You have to be patient and master the trigger control on it. Focus and practice, you'll get the hang of it.

Let us know when you get it out to the range.

Glad you got their screwup worked out, hope they gave you a good deal on it since it was "used"!

Low and left, yeah, pretty typical, you will get used to it. The more you shoot, the better it gets. The biggest problem is keeping them fed!

Thanks, Yes I got a fair deal for being that I live in Commiforna! As for keeping them fed, do you have a best place to buy bulk ammo?

Thx Ted

Thats awesome, I read your other thread and was wondering how things would turn out. Would you mind sharing with us the story of how the store righted its wrong?

Glad it worked out. Now get out of cal. Best move I ever made. :) Great place to visit and party tho. :)

Ammo, get what ever is cheap and name brand. Or start reloading. Reloading and shooting go hand in hand.

As for low left. It's common and a good starting point. Just practice. Dry fire the pistol and get steady with it. You could have a flinch going on. Could be pushing the pistol low left, Could be grip, stance or the trigger and a combo of all the above.

Happy shooting!

I buy mine in 50 round boxes cuz I dont have a lot of cash free to be buying 500 rounds at a time, usually get Federal Champion for target shooting, but not sure if Walmart is allowed to sell ammo in the Republik or not, its been a good many years since I moved out of the state. I am pretty sure I read an article here within the last few days that said that online purchase of ammo was prohibited in Cali. Any Bass Pro or Cabela's nearby? They often have something on sale.

Good for you Ted! Mine shoots to poa out of the box. The only trouble I've ever encountered was trying to shoot some 155 gr & 165 grain hps out of it(*stove pipes). I have shot several hundred 180 gr fmj's and hp's out of it and keep it as my late night companion. I have mentioned it before that my 40VE has turned tom cat sized ground hogs inside-out with rem 180 gr hps. I love the pistol. I have guns that cost much more, but I have used this one most exclusively for personal duties since I bought it 4 or 5 yrs ago.

Ted, the cheapest practice ammo that I've found around the Alamo is Federal Champion, sold at Wally-World. 50 rounds for @ $9.95. WWB is about $23 for 100 rounds; I use both in my sigma with zero failures to date.

So, please tell us Ted, how did it go down at the store? Inquiring minds want to know.

I know some will flame me for "taking advantage of a situation" but as a consumer, I was looking after my own interests without really trying to get anyone into trouble. I called the manager on the 6th of July and told him I was in a predicament and needed to come in and talk to him about a recent transaction gone wrong. I arrived at the store without the weapon and showed him my initial paperwork which shows I purchased the Highpoint. Then I pulled out the paper work that was given to me the day I picked up the weapon which shows I received the Sigma purchased by an individual with my same last name.

The Manager was in shock, I told them the story as I relayed it in my first post. He indicated I had no responsibility and the fault was with the store. He asked me how I wanted to resolve the situation. I indicated I liked the Sigma and would like to purchase it; however, I figured I should be given a break since the gun could not be sold as a new weapon. He told me I would be compensated and they would waive fees. He asked me if I had the weapon with me, I told him I did not and was concerned about transporting a weapon that did not belong to me. He acknowledged my concern but asked me to bring in the weapon anyway.

In the mean time, I had researched the best price I could get on a new Sigma in California. Bud's gun shop seemed to have the best price at $349 with free shipping. I found out I would have to pay California sales tax which was around $30. I would also have to pay FFL fees of about $20 that would put the total at around $400.

The manager called me back around an hour later and sang a slightly different tune. After calling his corporate office, they thought I shared some responsibility, I should have known I was given the wrong gun. They offered to sell be the gun at regular price $399 with a LE discount of 5% and give me $20 store credit. I arrived back at the shop but left the weapon in the car. I told them I was insulted at there assumption I should take any blame, that I wanted a refund of my original purchase and that I would turn the pistol into the FBI as my wife works for the U.S. Attorney's Office in San Diego.

The manager went back into his office, made a phone call and returned. He asked me what it was I wanted. I told him first and foremost an apology for his company for them trying to shift the blame onto me. Secondly, I should not pay more for the weapon then the original buyer who paid the sale price of $349. I told him if they truly only gave law enforcement a 5% discount that was insulting to them, 10% should be the minimum. Lastly whatever store credit they wanted to give was up to them, they should give what they truly feel the error was worth. In the end, they sold me the gun for the sale price of $349 with a 10% discount and they gave me $50 store credit which I used towards the gun purchase, they did not waive fees as they origianly said they would. I had my wife bring the gun in from the trunk of the car and turned it into them. So in the end I paid $311 out the door and am now waiting the 10 days so I can take possession.

Good price, don't forget to jump on the S&W rebate for $50 or 2 free mags.

am now waiting the 10 days so I can take possession.
Dang, that would annoy the hell out of me. I was at the range launching lead mere minutes after walking out of Academy with my Sigma... had to satisfy my curiosity about the alleged "horrible" trigger... shot just fine. :D

diego-ted,
Turners used to be a great gunstore but due to changes in owners several times in recent years has gone down hill. It has gotten to the point that "friends don't let friends shop at Turners".
Since you are a Kali gun owner, you should visit calguns.net the best Cal based gun forum there is. Everything the California based gunowner could ask for.

I certainly would NOT do business there again, not after having them accuse me of anything and having to threaten them to get them to stand behind their sales and service! They seem to have forgotten that they aren't the only game in town... hard times like these they should be courting every person that comes through those front doors.

Decent enough price in the end, they really tried to jack you over it though, just remember to get those free mags or 50 bucks, I would get the mags personally as they are pretty pricey. I had extras already when I bought mine so went with the cash, which I then spent on ammo!

Thx Lee, I have read it a couple of times, my kidd has as well. I can't wait to get the Sigma back so I can feed it a little more.

Next on the list will be to learn to break down the gun and clean it. I am going to a gunshow on Sunday before I pick up the gun. I will be looking for a cleaning kit, grip and ammo. The Walmarts here in San Diego are really scrimmping on stock. No Feds to be had!!

Ted, a couple of important tips:

1. Make sure the guide rod/spring is fully seated in the slide (not on that little ledge, FIG 22B and 23B in the manual) before reassembly.

2. Keep your thumb on the guide rod/spring while carefully sliding the slide back on to the frame. If the guide rod/spring jump out of place at the wrong time while you're pushing the slide back, it can be a disaster.

3. The sigma is NOT an oil hog. Lube the lube points in the book with just a little drop of oil on each point.

Have fun,

Lee

Same here, +1,000 rounds of Federal - zero problems, better price than the WWB, (though I've gotten 2 boxes of WWB with 1 extra round) and I prefer the plastic cartridge holder over loosies.

Though at home I load with 124 Golden Saber HPJ.
