After looking for many years to find the perfect model 29, I just happen to luck into finding this one. I actually sold a pre-model 10 to a gentleman who specializes in collectible S&Ws and he asked if I would be interested in anything and of course I asked if he had a 29. He said he just happened to get one in recently and explained that a couple who owned a gun shop had bought several S&Ws back in the 70s and stored them NIB hoping they would be their retirement. They recently retired so those guns were for sale. This one was made in 1978 and is 100% complete and NIB. The presentation case is 100%, no cracks, holes or flocking issues and has all accompanying paperwork to include original shipping carton. Gun is as perfect as you can get for a production gun. It was well worth the wait :D

Nothing like being in the right place at the right time, which can take years. Excellent choice of firearms.

That's a much better plan than the books, toys and trinkets most people put in time capsules. :D Congrats, that is an excellent gun. Talk about being in the right place at the right time.

Thanks guys. I am really happy with this one. The guy said they it was received, wiped down with Rustprufe and stored in a Bore Store for the last 33 years. I couldn't pass this one up!

That is amazing and you should go buy a lotto ticket as that kind of luck doesn't happen very often in life.

I am shooter and a collector but this one is an investment piece to admire and enjoy so it won't be getting shot. I know, I know it is a gun and it was made to be shot but I have a 29-8 mountain gun and a Redhawk to shoot so this one is going to be a safe queen. Sorry guys but this is just too nice to use after it has been preserved so well. If ones like this were a little more plentiful and not so expensive, I would have 2 :)

Warm congratulations on your purchase. They are seldom seen in that condition without a lot of digging.

Pardon those who joke about shooting NIB specimens. It somehow relieves the stress each of us feels, just to know that will remain a pristine example. At least, it make me feel better that there indeed will be a legacy from this generation for the next, to witness the factory condition of many S&Ws. [Including foibles and flaws and many instances of perfection.]

Regards,

Dyson

The gentlemen that sold me the gun said he has people who buy ones like this and do intend to shoot it. He said they want to start with a fresh one just like it came form the factory. To each his own but I can't do it. If I was going to do that I would have looked for a 29-5, 98-99% and shot the hell out of it.

thats a keeper :D

you did very very well on that NIB 29

I own some Model 29's, bit none like that one. Very, very nice. Keep it and shoot or not shoot, who cares, it is yours.....

congrats
