After 7 months of empty promises and dealing with the frustration and depression that goes along with being unemployed, I am back in the work force.

Last week a member and good friend, Sheryl Cheely, forwarded me an email from a CPA firm that all of a sudden found them in need of a staff accountant. I called the gentleman the next morning and after a short discussion he told me he was going to talk it over with his partner. H called back that afternoon and invited me to come to KS on his dime for a face to face.
I met with them Monday morning and after a 1 1/2hr interview with we concluded with the plan to meet for lunch in 30 minutes. I collected my wife from the hotel and we met back up with the partners. After a nice lunch the partner I had been in contact the whole time said "We would like to offer you the job"...dang, talk about FAST.

The next day after a LOT of discouraging phone calls looking for a house to rent we stumbled on what was to our perfect idea of a place to live in the country.

SO...it looks like I am moving to Great Bend KS. To make things even better, I am going home. All of my fondest memories of my childhood center around the time we spent in Kansas visiting my kin, and where I am going is only about an hour and a half from that place.

To all that replied to my looking for work thread I appreciate all the help and support...it means a lot.

Man !! That is absolutely wonderful!! And I know you and the wife have had a great sigh of relief! Thanks be to the Lord for all His goodness!!!

That's great news. Relocating can be tough, but that's what it will take many times in what we still refer to as our economy. Best of luck in your new job.

Tough times for a lot of people right now. Nice to hear that it's turned around for at least one of our forum members.

Congratulations!

Welcome to Kansas. There's much worse places to call home. With a few of your new contacts, you'll have plenty of places to hunt and fish before you know it.

Wonderful news Curtis! Prayers were once again answered! God bless!

That's a great story and I'm really happy for you.
Kansas is a great place to live, enjoy every day of it.

Well I'll be...

That's just Great news there Curtis!:)

I'll be comin' through there after the works all done in the spring, on my way up to Wyoming.

Bust of Luck. Ol' Pard.

Su Amigo,
Dave

Way to go!!

Kansas ain't half bad except for the skiing.

The guy at the consulting company that I used to do work for, who never returns my calls returned a call yesterday.

He may have a six month support and monitoring job for me. Pay is decent if not great. The downside is that it's 7:00pm - 7:00am, and two weekends a month. Lousy hours, but at least it's a job if it comes through. I can use the additional money to get a Windows 2010 server going so that I can get my 2010 MCSE.
