There's a little grocery store by my house. I go there because it's easier for me to run in than the Krogers or Walmart market.
So I was buying about 6-7 items and wasn't paying attention. Just putting my stuff on the checkout counter. And then turned around to see a elderly lady in front of me digging in her purse. I figured like most ladies do?
Then I saw the cashier and she was mad. I could see it in her face? She said to the ole ladiy your still $3.40 short. You'll have to put some of this stuff back! In a very hateful voice! I have other customers behind you. I turned around and I was the only one? I said I'm not in a hurry. And I said she's OK. So the lady kept digging in her purse. The cashier said it again. Even Louder You'll have to put some of this stuff back, in even a more hateful voice! That made me mad.
I said, Oh No She Don't! And I pulled out a $10 dollar bill, out of my money clip and basically threw it at the cashier and said that should cover it! And the ole lady didn't know what to say? And then I told the cashier to give her the change! The cashier slammed her drawer shut I could tell it made her mad! GOOD, I didn't care!
The ole lady really never said nothing to me? And put her 2-3 bags in her cart and left. Probably too embrassed? I didn't care! I didn't do it for a THANK YOU!
So Miss Smart Elick slammed my stuff in a bag. I paid for it. And said, Why were you so rude to her? Her exact words were, "I'm sick and tired of these Old People always doing this!" I said, I Pray To God you never get old or have to struggle with a fixed income. And I started to call her a few choice cuss words? But I didn't want to give her the pleasure! Or drop to her level.
So I said I need to see the manager! So she pointed behind me? There stood the manager. I said is this the way this store treats its customers? And that I've been trading there since it opened 10 years ago. And never had such a hateful experience! All the manager would say over and over I'm Sorry Sir, I'm Sorry Sir! I told her I wanted the General Managers Number and she wrote it down and gave it to me. So I just called and left a message with his assistant. Maybe I'll be calmer when or if he calls back?
I've been blessed all my life! $10 isn't going to make or break me. I was always taught to respect my elders. No matter what. I was always taught to say yes mam, yes sir. And still do. I'm NOT going to mistreat or standby and let someone mistreat a little ole lady, because they can! I had been the check out girl, I would have skipped lunch, took my lunch money and paid for it out of my pocket. That's just me?
I hope I get her fired. Let her go abuse someone at Walmart? If this stores customers are mostly older people as she said, it's obvious she can't deal with them?
I know, I know! It wasn't any of my business! I know, I know I shouldn't have butted in. But it broke my heart seeing that lady standing there shaking and trying to dig change out of her purse! It was obvious she'd already gave her all her bills. And the cashier just kept getting louder and louder. It embrassed me! If the tide was turned. I'd hope someone would do the same for me or my wife?
