Here we are approaching another Flu & Covid 19 Season, I have been taking the Flu shots for a long time and intend to do so this season, I took the first two Covid 19 Shots (Moderna)and then the two boosters but have learned that some medical providers are reluctant to recommend the updated Covid 19 shots. Any recommendations from other learned medical folks? Old Man who appreciates your input!

Sam, my wife got Covid about two weeks go, likely from our trip to Pennsylvannia at an event we attended with large crowds. She Tested + when we got home. Nothing more than a sore throat.

Doc told her to stay home and if nothing progressed she was good to go in about 5 days. We isolated for a week in the house, her downstairs, me upstairs.

I tested 2x during, both negative but didn't leave the house for the duration. I didn't want to possibly infect anyone at my gym or the guys at our usual Wednesday lunchathon.

She missed a long planned girls week getaway with our neighbor to N. Myrtle Beach. A condo right on the beach. One of the other neighbors took her place.

Received the annual Flu shot last week @CVS. Covid was offered, I passed for now, until I see my doc next month.

I think we both did everything right.

What is the issue?

I have never gotten the Covid shot(s). I think that I have had it 2 times since 2020. I used to get the Flu shot but, stopped that too when I found out that it is 40-60% effective. I think that I may have gotten the flu once since I stopped. Nothing since. The thing that I find interesting is when I donate blood I am asked if I have had the Covid shot. Not sure why but, I can speculate.

Then look out. I had chickenpox in my mid 20s. Caught it off my buddy. He had a fever such that pink elephants were coming out of the wall. Childrens' diseases are best left to children.

When my sister and brother in turn caught Chickenpox mum made me sleep with them as to catch it and get it over with.

I am as yet poxless.

I get a flu shot in late September before the northern hoards arrive. Had covid in 2020 and Moderna shots afterwards, but no more. The covid now is not the covid of 2020.

I'm not a doctor, but I know that chickenpox does not always result in obvious pox symptoms. I have heard of cases where a patient tested positive for the chickenpox organism, but had no obvious symptoms or fever, giving them immunity from chickenpox. But that person can still get shingles. I would talk to my primary care physician but I would be surprised if he/she did not recommend you get the shingles vaccine.

FWIW, a woman who worked for me got shingles and later said that if she had been told that a cure was available but the cost was $25,000, she would have taken out a second mortgage on her home because the pain from shingles was so terrible. And some people never fully lose the symptoms for the rest of their lifetime. Not worth taking the chance, get the vaccine.

Vaccines are there to trigger your immune system to produce antibodies to help fight various viruses. It is not a guarantee of total immunity, but will certainly lessen the symptoms of any virus that you may ultimately catch. I have had a total of 6 Covid shots and every year since I can remember have a flu shot, and totally satisfied with the resulting outcome. Personally, I am a firm believer, if it's available, have it...

I've not had 'rona, and have not had a Covid "vaccine". I have no regrets in not taking the vaccines.

I WILL not take an mRNA vaccine. There are too many long term unknowns and too many claims that were called conspiracy theories that turned out to be true. If you all want to take the jabs, even with the unknowns, and the known side effects, have at it!

If you want to boost your immune system, take Vitamin D. It's cheap effective and protects against other problems.

Same here.........NO SHOTS......I take vitamins, drink juices (including pickle juice),. An occassionly drink non carbonated wine. Haven't been sick in years....Force a needle on me and you will here a loud bang.

When my cousins got it my dad was all for walking across the park to their house for me to get the bug. My mother vetoed the plan. I was two weeks off work when I did get it. It kicked the **** out of me.

My wife and I both had CV19 last February. We called the dr and she said stay hydrated and rest. When your symptoms are gone go back to your everyday routines. Doc also said not to test again as it would probably show a false positive. The worst for us was congestion. We decided to not get any of CV19 boosters.

Sooooo once upon a time it was acceptable to get sick as the doctor would tell us that it would boost our immunity. What has happened over the last 5 years to make that not true?!?!?! As I understand it, getting sick accomplishes the same as a shot. Aren't both supposed to boost your immunity?

Well, I did ask and am very appreciative of your opinions.

What I really wanted to know is: Are the Medical Professionals who treat us regular old folks recommending that we have the Covid Shots. Some ventured into the Shingles Shots, I am all for taking that one only because I have witnessed the first hand affects from my Wife's having experienced the misery caused by them. Thanks to all who replied and by the way, my primary care physician says he isn't advising anyone to have the new Covid 19 shots. So, it seems to be just a matter of opinion! Thanks Again!!!!

People that had the initial shots, boosters and wear a mask STILL get the virus. Why bother? Ask someone with blood clots in the legs or weird blood problems what vaccine they got and the name Pfizer comes up.

The shots are not a proven vaccine and the media doesn't give the negative feedback from side effects to the public.

Youngest son is an ER doctor and there is a few viruses going around. Each one the people that catch any one of them have mild symptoms or severe symptoms.

I don't have a test kit in the house and never will, Larry
