Dear s&w forum I have a question for military veterans that are members of this forum. When you where in the service did you carry some kind of lucky object? sincerely and respectfully mg357 a very proud member of the s&w forum.

I carried a Gideon Bible when I was in Vientam, does that count.

It got me through some pretty tough spots.

Mine was a miniture pocket Bible. Writing was so small you needed a magnifing glass to read it.

I was in Field Artillery and wore a St. Barbara medal on my dog tags. I'm not Catholic but I was told she is the patron saint of artillerymen, among other things, so I figured it couldn't hurt. Years later I found out St Barbara is considered a minor saint for sailors, so I took the medal off my dogtags and attached it to the bulkhead of my sailboat.

I wore a Caravelle watch which my Pop had bought for me when I was twelve.

I carried several in the two years I spent in Vietnam.

One was a CAR-15, another was a M16A1, another was a Walther P-38, a cut down M-79, a Randall #1 and a Gerber MkII. My weapons had names and I talked to them.

Your not crazy if your weapons don't talk back to you.

The only lucky object I carried in Nam was a government issue .45. It may not have brought me good luck but it sure kept the bad luck away.

Started out carrying a WW11, metal jacketed miniture bible in my left shirt pocket and ended up carrying a .30 cal slug that had my name on it.

I had a rabbits foot at one time but threw it away after a bud pointed out it hadn't helped the rabbit any.
