I decided to buy the gin even though it was in 35 Rem caliber. and is short maf length like a 64 Win, I have a question or two though. The gun s a no safety and it is not frilled and tapped for a scope. It has a roll engrave receiver top with little squiggles to reduce glare I guess. ...When did they start drilling and tapping their rifles...Gun is nice as is the wood I paid more than I wanted but what the heck. think I can always get my money out of it. If my daughter gets back soon,... I will get her to post some pics...I hope

A Marlin in 35 Remington is a highly sought after rifle back here in PA. Can't be beat for hunting whitetails in the woods.
Heck...to be honest I'd use it for an elk at woods(forest) ranges. I also have a Remington pump in 35 Remington...never shot it. I have a Lyman receiver sight I will mount on it. . I have a matched pair of Remington 1100s I am going to sell to pay for all the newest acquisitions
I bought the rifle...found 4 rounds here...11 rounds of brass. My friend back east is sending me another 20 rounds of new brass and 50 200 gr bullets...He offered more but I don't need 'em ...I have a bunch of 180 gr Nosler pistol bullets that will work too. I load them in my 357 Rem Max for deer...and the fellow offered me a box of factory 150 gr loads for 10 bucks and gave me a pound of Hi Vel # 2....yep...little metal can

I just sold a 1/2 magazine 1951 waffle top (squiggly lines on top of the reciever) in 35 Rem. It does look similar to a M64 Winchester.

My Marlin 336 .35 Remington is one of my favorite rifles.
With 200 gr bullets from any major ammo manufacturer it will cloverleaf 3 rounds at 100 yards.

The rifle is what is called a waffle top by Marlin owners and collectors. I think they started tapping them for scopes around 1955. The rifle you have should be tapped on the side for a peep sight like a old Redfield or Lyman. There are plety of Marlins in 35 Remington and it is a great round. Ammo is still made by Remington and Hornady in round nose bullets for magazine rifles. Here is a picture of mine made in 1950 wearing a Redfield peep sight and a 35 Remington. I also have a Remington Pre model model 8 made in 1908 that is a 35 Remington.
