I love 45 ACP in revolvers..Anyone else?

I love the 45 acp revolvers, too. They are sweet shooters.

Some 1917's and Brazilians

Yes, add me to the list of individuals who love 45 acp revolvers. I have three very different guns- a 1917 5" (1938), a 25-2 6 1/2" (1975), and a 625 3" Model of 1989. I shoot the 25 most, often without the moon clips. It is somewhat more tedious to reload, but worth the effort. With reloaded 200 grain SW's and a modest amount of Bullseye, they are easily extracted. The 1917 is just plain fun to shoot. Great for close range combat games. I have yet to shoot my NIB 625 3" but may do so at some point.

I must admit, I prefer shooting my Gold Cup or Series 70 Government model when I venture to the range with a stock pile of ACP reloads. I have, roughly, a seven or eight to one revolver to auto ratio, but find it difficult to derive greater shooting pleasure from any handgun than I do from a 1911 style auto. All of my Colts (and my only Colts) are variations of the 1911 and in my view are the best of the Browning designs. JIMO.

An original 1955 Target , A 625-2 , A 25-2 6" and a just acquired 625-6 Mountain Gun. Hot Dog , 45 a.c.p. in the bomb.

This is my favorite, a Model of 1988 5-incher, customized with red ramp front sight, Ahrends stocks, and an action job by Nelson Ford. Smooooth and extemely accurate:

The 45 is IMHO about the best combat and PD round in the world, but I fail to see the popularity of it as a woods gun. I would not want it over a 41 or 44 special in the woods and maybe even a 45 Colt, I would rate it as a poor choice for a Mountain Gun where bear, hogs and large cats roam. To me the round is just not suited for anything but the city, the battlefield or a target gun. On several occasions both recently and years past I have passed on some good buys on 45 ACP revolvers for this reason.

I tried reloading them one time many years (about 30+) ago, but the small case and short bullets were rough on my big fingers, 9mm was the same problem. So I finally got away from 45 ACP & 9 mm shooting and until recently when I had a chance to score a Para 1911 14-45 Gun Rights model for under $700 and use it for a HD gun that kept in the master bedroom.

Old,

There is where we differ. The old ACP, esp in Smith sixguns, is quite capable of throwing a 250 to 270 grain semi-wadcutter 900 fps or a bit more. Many (including me) feel that is highly adequte for big cats, deer, hogs, what have you.

Some of us like reloading the stubby little buggers too. :)

I guess you are right about the LSWC, I shoot a lot of that in 357, 10 mm and 44, but jut never thought about it in 45ACP for some reason.

Watch those fingers. ;)

I have a 625JM. Love that gun; replaced the grips so the wood won't get scratched, etc with a decelarator grip. Very accurate, easy to shoot. The only "humbug" is loading and unloading the rounds/casings on the moon clips.

Here's two of mine

One is stainless, model of 1989 and the other is a hard chromed, shortened 25-2.
