That's normal. The model numbers did not replace the model names, they supplemented them.Interesting, S&W was still calling them a .22 Combat Masterpiece in the owners manual.

The seller wanted $900, I wanted to pay $800 ... we settled on $847.I was happy and he seemed happy too.
One of the nice things about buying from a private seller at a show is no sales tax, no shipping and no transfer fee.

Richard, a few things. First that is a superb package! Second, how in the world did you “settle” on $847? I could see $850, but $847?Lastly, you actually listed 3 nice things about buying from a private seller instead of one, and all three are really nice when you can do it. Thank goodness I can do those things here too.
It’s hard for me to believe, but I don’t have a .22 Combat Masterpiece of any vintage!I have quite a few of the 6 inchers, but no 4 incher. I am about getting past the point of rectifying that too. As usual, thanks for sharing with us.

When and if I ever grow up (an unlikely scenario at my age) I want to be just like Richard, including just being an average, unassuming guy...When I first started seeing Richard's posts, I thought, " I need this guy to adopt me."

Richard settled on $847 because like Scatman Carothers in "The Shootist," He's the best haggler....and $3 is $3 dollars...
That’s hilarious, Richard! It's actually more simple than that. I had two $20s, a $5, and two $1s in my pocket, and then a small stack of "just in case I find something cool" $100s in my backpack. So I took out the $47 from my pocket and asked "would you take $847?" He said "yes". I handed him the $47, opened my backpack and handed him 8 large. He handed me the boxed gun, which I promptly deposited in my backpack, shouldering the backpack in one swift move.I smiled. He smiled. And I promptly headed for home to get aquainted with my new K-22.

It ended up being a great day at the gunshow.
A few years ago I was rectifying some of the errors of my misspent youth and requiring some of the guns that I sold. The M18 was one such gun as was the K22. I got into a bidding war on GB for a NIB M18. It was a birth year gun for me (1952) and just to nice to pass up. It's surprising how fast $50 increments add up. At the end of the day I out lasted the other guy.
