In another post someone published a set of FBI stats showing the leading states for instant checks on firearms.I was very surprised to see California was always in the top 3 with Texas and Kentucky. My native Pennsylvania where everyone seems to hunt or shoot was up there but not as high as l thought. Even with all the "will not ship to California" I see in gun ads etc they manage to be in the top 3. I am in So. California now visiting haven`t looked for any gunshops but may now. What really scares me is with so many gun owners here and they still passed such Draconian gun laws makes me more concerned about what is now happening in the country.

California has always been a large firearms market, but we are not on the instant check system. When we buy a gun here, we have a 10 day waiting period while the background check is completed by the Dep. of Justice.

I don't doubt the stats, but you have also to factor in things like the fact that I have purchased a lot of firearms over the years without a call-in. Don't need one, GA carry permit bypasses the NICS check.

A lot of states are this way and I imagine a lot of long-time repeat customers never get counted.

Think about it.... it is to our advantage for there to be high numbers of gun sales in every state. It gives the wimpy politicians something to think about when they contemplate anti-gun legislation.

Every gun sale in their state is a potential vote they could lose if they cast an anti-gun vote.

I lived in california most of my working life. I evidently got a highly false impression of the state and its people and politics. It had to be because of the type people on my job and the type people I called my friends. I dont belive 10% of the people I personaly knew were democrats or liberals.
Everyone I associated with were gun people. Yet plain voteing outcome showed me I was 100% wrong. I guess los angeles and san francisco entirely controls the huge state. I suppose those citys are maybe 2 or 5 % of the state area wise. Its a shame. California has it all somewhere to be found in it. Huge open unpopulated desserts, remote beautiful mountains and the longest ocean front by far in the lower states. If it wasnt for the politics there are areas there that would have been my first choice to retire in.
