I was in an LGS and a guy was trying to convince his companion to buy an AR-15 'black' gun. She said, "No it looks dangerous". I think this is going to be the next big thing and not just in pink like are being made now. I think a deep burgundy red would be good for a guy. S&W will miss out if they don't get with the style for new shooters, mainly women, but men, too. There's no reason for a sporting firearm especially to have to look look like a death dealer. Henry Ford's cars were all black at one time, too. In addition, this might gain more acceptance from women in general. Choice is the key word here.

This has been seized on by many after just such things have been tried as "irresponsible for making dangerous weapons look like toys".

There is a small element of truth to that, I suppose, but as Cooper related about the old Russian who was asked if his gun was safe, he replied, "Is not safe ! Is gon ! "

The detractors worry that all these finished in colors look too much like toys and children won't be able to tell the difference.

Doesn't seem like it would make much difference if you leave them laying around where a child could access them . . .

Weapons are not toys, shouldn't be treated as such. These are serious times and serious education is missing. I see alot of novices at the range, most not getting or having education about the safe handling of and lethality of weapons.

I dont think pretty colors will help.

Weapons are what they are.

I guess

The i guess all of those pearl, ivory, and engraved with silver and gold type guns should be painted black or destroyed because they are not 'serious' enough. These are already here and are to a guy's taste. Different embellishments, whether they be colors or whatever would have more appeal to the ladies. I didn't say anything about required training for firearms. I would assume that to be the same as always. Look at what people are doing after market.

Yeah, let's do one up in a gold wash so it can be gun bling for the bangers.

I love looking at BBQ guns as much as the next guy but there isn't any way that you are going to make an AR15 or an AK pretty or less dangerous looking to the folks who are scared of guns as objects.
