Speaking from many years of experience (probably more than you have on the planet, altogether).

Perhaps a walk in the evening, OC, in Detroit , or Cleveland (East side), or Chicago (South side) would enlighten some who live in rural and suburban areas?
So you're claiming to have carried openly as a private citizen (IOW, not police) for more than 52 years?

Excuse me if I find that a little hard to believe.

In any event, you are also claiming that during the 52 years you were doing so, you had someone disarm you often enough that you are now against open carry?

Seriously though, if you have evidence of the actions you claim are a certainty, please enlighten me. The playing coy nonsense is childish.

Do it all the time 50 plus hours a week Detroit, Flint, Pontiac Saginaw Indy Gary etc...
I'm 47 and have carried for 29 years OC and CC...

OCers getting shot first and or robbed of their gun is just fear mongering for the most part

Since 1963, NEVER been disarmed in all that time.

That's not to say I haven't been stopped, questioned, put on the ground, etc.

Here in Kentucky open carry has always been legal but must be aware that some localities may restrict it somewhat. I don't believe I would open carry in Louisville. ITS LEGAL TO CARRY IN YOUR VEHICLE compartments ,loaded, unloaded , locked or unlocked without any type permitt.

Open carry has to be the biggest non-issue ever. All the fussing and fantasy fretting... over nothing. OC is legal here in Tennessee as well as most states in some form or another. The sky isn't falling. Yawn.
I alway carry conceived when visiting Pigeon Forge from Kentucky but have never open carry there... Also conceil carry when visiting Ohio.

Open carry is legal in many states. Not a problem.

We'll never hear any more about this after tomorrow.

My observations as of this mornings ride. I've seen one passenger with his weapon, wore a tankers shoulder holster ( like I would IF I decided to carry?) which had a G.I. .45 residing in it. Nobody riding seemed to care or notice. The bus driver gave him two thumbs up, while I grinned like a baboon. So far, he hasnt shot anyone and I've seen no blood in the streets. Also, no undercover LEO on board. The passengers .45, never leaped from shoulder holster and never aimed itself and never discharged. Hmmmmm, just what I figgered would happen.

Kid,

I was dining at the Bean & Burger in Athens, Tex one time and a plainclothes Sheriff's Deputy came in with a couple of Rangers...I noticed the Deputy's yaqui belt holster was sans pistol.....when I quizzed him as to it's where abouts, He went into a panic, charged back out to his car. Came back in lookin kinda sheepish, sed he left it on the car seat while tuckin in his shirt tail and adjusting his britches.

Only time I've ever witnessed a panic over a pistol in an eat joint. ;):D

.

I hope that the new president, will make you the country's next 'top cop' that there was funny and must have been a sight to see?:D

I sense you have a problem with the police? Before and after I was in, I have had runins with a VERY few bad cops. Knowing and being friends with a certain Kleberg, County Judge, has its benefits. That said, yeah, I have known a sum total of 3 bad cops out of the several hundreds I've known or met. One I worked with while State of Texas LE, and he was a punk then and still is a punk. Another has long sense been fired, and the last one, has to permanently watch his ps and qs, or will be fired.

I can't for a few reasons. Mostly he is still, for now, an active policeman here in my area. What I can say, is I'm highly surprised that our deceased police chief, Floyd Simpson, never fired him. About twice a year there is a news report on him because of mishandling someone he arrested. Our new chief may not keep him as one of his officers but, we'll see, we'll see.

I work with an agency one time that had an officer so overbearing, he bordered on being just right down mean.

He did a traffic stop on this kid and his body guard and he (the officer) proceeded to over-step to the point that a formal complain was filed.....The kid's grandfather, the then founder and CEO of the Dollar General Corp.
and did proceed to get that roughing's badge so to speak.

The moral, don't mis-treat folks rich or poor.

Just my opinion

Criminals pick their targets. Visible means of a good defense = hard target. No visible means for defense = possible soft target. Armed either way = Good. BAD cop = possible rough time either way but very rare. Good cop = no problems. Nothing wrong about respecting the police, works both ways. Telling someone not to do something that's legal = none of your business. Grabbing someones gun = got guts enough to try it?? Sure they have only one?? And no knife? Not everyone is helpless. If you don't understand this = Paranoid, quit whining, stay in your world and leave me alone in mine. Be safe.

Kid,

I personal like to express my favor of concealed carry when it's time
to be discrete and I favor open carry at other times.

But all this one sidedness is getting old, the ones that voice it so loudly
for either side, reminds me of an ol story told by a cowboy poet.

I'll paraphrase here to shorten it a bit,

Once there was a bronc peeler that hired on this western outfit,
before he'd un-rolled his bed in the bunkhouse he was get his story set.

He let all and sundried know that he was an ol time hand and hoped
this outfit had some horses a real hand could ride with pride.

He claimed to have rode em awful tough from Canadian all the way to out Arizona way,
He sed, "Ya got to set em salty or they's jar ya to the gills."

Wells one day ol Lash drawed a little brown pony that sur nuf had some buck and bawl in him....
The little hoss set this bronc peeler afoot for the third time that day.

When the kid that was helpin the cook stepped up and says, "Let me give that lil'l dun a whirl".
The kid swung up in the saddle as light as a feather and took himself a deep seat before the pony
knew he was even mounted...That horse bogged his head and set in to a pitchin, landing on one foot then
the other, jump high and rolling his belly toward the sun, but this broncy colt couldn't set the boy on
the ground. The kid reached up and spur'd a lick er two just for show.

When the lit'l dun had had enough, he stood stock still as the dust was a settlin,
the kid stepped to the ground and giving his hat a whirl he sezs to Lash La Rue,
"Now ya can give him to yur girl." (Seems like Cookie's helper was a bronc peeler too)

And this, as in most cases, the toughest horses a big mouth rides...Is in some other places. ;):D

I find it disturbing, to say the least, that open carry isn't "allowed" in all our States. Who ARE these people doing the allowing/ non-allowing?

I'm not trying to be political, but this IS the truth. Here in Texas the vote went straight along party lines, and the democrats were the ones who opposed open carry, and a couple of them tried stonewalling tactics ( which eventually failed and only managed a slight delay in the new law) and the end result did not change a thing.

Heh heh, sounds like that kid got lucky showing off. I can't show off anything yet, still need the I.D. rig and such. Truthfully, I don't know if I'll ever carry openly or not once I'm legally able. Just depend on peoples attitudes I guess.

Although I've been to the big city and have saw the elephant....

I don't open carry too awful much in town.
I'd step out and pump a lit'l fuel into the pickup with my sidearm without nary a thought about it....

I don't think I'd promenade around the metro-plex open carrying,

Right on the other hand, I'd think nothing of riding my horse down the
lane at the Stockyard in Ft. Worth armed with a SAA. ;):D

So there is a time and place for everything I guess...

One should carry any way that is most comfortable at the time, the PC people don't like anything anyhow.. Sides', I figure the only political correctness I've read here is to the forum itself. Keep up the good work people, I love hearing all opinions. Time is the best teacher, and a lot of us have a very good education. Main thing is to learn to listen and pay attention. Try it, it works. Helps a lot.

OMG! NEITHER ONE! Only a masculinely-impaired, ignorant, low education, pin-headed, inbred, white, redneck, Christian Neanderthal would even OWN a gun, let alone CARRY one! At least, that's what the leftists keep telling me. Since they are the experts on politically correct, I tell them that as far as I'm concerned PC is what's on my desk.

WV is a little odd in that yes we have open carry, but you can get a whole new set of problems such as if you OC a pistol in a vehicle the game warden can fine you for illegal hunting.

I read that one and asked around and it is technically true, never heard of it happening but it can happen supposedly.

I have the carry permit and prefer to keep it out of sight so I can be a very unpleasant surprise for any troublemakers :D

Try open carry in Cincinnatti, Cleveland, or other metro areas if you wanna play that game....

Common sense, again, dictates to CC, likewise an invitation for the inner-city tribal parasites to gang up and grab a gun is only sport for the short-lived fool-hardy who "know their State Laws" and "know their RIGHTS"......

Walk the talk, or go home.

I open carry in Tulsa and Oklahoma City among others with no issues. I'm so tired of people using the term "common sense" when it isn't. Isn't it enough that the leftists use it?

I did have one young fellow ask me if my nickel-plated S&W Model 37 Airweight Chief's Special .38 SPL was a "forty-five," though.
