I went to the dark (Sig) side...

When it comes to appearance the 3rd generation Smiths are far superior to the SIGs. One of the reasons I bought my 4046 was because I just like the lines and appearance of the gun.

I want to like the SIGs but when I pick them up and hold them in my hand I just can't bring myself to buy one.

If SIGs were made by a US company we would have three pages of posting about how they are like bricks or handled like a 2X4.

I own both Sig-Sauer(both stamped and milled) as well as S&W. Both great guns, however Sig-Sauer pistols are in more of a Performance Center price range. My Shorty 40 and 45's are much smoother and more accurate than my Sigs.

I prefer the older stamped Sig-Sauers to the newer ones. Lighter and smaller. The USA/milled P220 had to have an extractor re-design because the engineers got the dimensions wrong. Having said that mine works fine.

I own and shoot 23 S&W 3rd generation pistols and 3 Sigs (.45 220, .40 229 and .357 Sig 229). As you can see, I really like my 3rd generation pistols and shoot them very well. However, IMHO the single-action triggers on Sigs are generally much, much better. Now, maybe my 23 3rd generations don't accurately reflect typical triggers on 3rd generation pistols, and maybe I got three Sigs with unusally good single-action triggers. Although anything is possible, I don't think so.
