I wuz sniffing around this LGS....

It has nothing to do with 'liking' Grandkids. It is having to do with spending as if there is no tomorrow. While we are in a good position financially that can change with Biden & co. One would be wise to be debt free and have a nice bank account (we do.) But keep spending like there is no tomorrow and well, tomorrow will come anyway.

I do not like one-upmanship in the financial department. That can lead to unintended consequences.

You are a very wise man. I have an EX that didn't understand this. Notice I said EX.

Why would anyone discuss buying a gun with their wife?

I have never discussed any firearms related purchase's with my wife. I make all my purchase's with my own money, never the "house" money. Since my wife never actually see's what I'm spending she never questions it. I never ask my wife what she spends money on either, none of my business.

What part of the rear sight, the blade? Sight blades are cheap and you can find nice grips for less $100. Out west they're selling for around $1000.
I'd buy it.

Broke in half. Along the spring 1/2 way toward the front screw.

I've been married to her for 30+ years. Both of us professionals before retirement. Put both kids threw parochial school and college. Have a bank account for the grandkids education (at least kindergarden.) Grandkids have their own kidcave... lots of toys.

I just feel one should balance everything so the kids and grandkids will not have to SUPPORT US!

I was a lucky dog working to where I have 3 defined benefit retirements and she has two (including our SS.) Plus IRA house/cars paid off. Even have some investments. But like I said, Biden could make 'stagflation', I.E. like Jimmy Carter days, a reality again.

All stock based retirements could go kaput. Inflation ruin SS. Folks need to be debt free and own their own home (and keep it repaired.)

No, not thinking TEOTWAWKI... just the Weimar Republic just before WW2... bad enough. We are in trillions of debt... not unlike the Germans were after WW1! And if you print enough funny money... it won't be funny after a while.

I am no survivalist but I am a realist.

Anyway folks, I pass on that 624... I'd love to tinker with it but I really don't need it.

I'm with you 100%. I owned a very successful business I started many decades ago. My wife of 27 years and I are on the same page about lifestyle and money. We dont buy anything we can't pay cash for at that moment and that includes cars and homes. Not bragging just worked hard and put every penny away that we could. We skipped vacations for years and worked long hard hours. I regularly put in 80-100 hours a week for long periods. When you have no debt financial security follows.

I only have one son and he's almost 39. No grandkids to worry about and that's fine. He's very independent too. He did 6 years in the military and works for the government now. His wife is in management with UPS and they're doing great. I'm pleased.

I'm still a tightwad and have to justify buying toys. My wife though is my enabler. She's very sweet and has a way of talking me into buying things I want. She's a keeper!

Well, if things go that way, you may be able to get the 624 for
a lot less than they want, right now. Silver lining, all that. ;)

No, the 624 will cost $122,101,102 dollars if it goes that way. But your retirement will still be what it is now... hence no more guns, or food... won't be afford to 'em with a barrel full of dollars.

Well someone got it! I hope it was one of the guys that PM'ed me!

I like a nice gun but I don't let condition be a deal breaker. Something like a damaged rear sight and wrong grips would never stop me from buying a gun like a 3 inch 624. I would expect to pay over $1000 for one that's correct.

But if I buy it it won't make my wife happy....

But taken from years of experience, this is almost always a VERY short term proposition. Keeping her happy is a lot harder than keeping her mad!!

Buy it.
They're not going to get any cheaper.
This time next year that gun in it's current condition may bring $1,000 - $1,500.
Easily.
