Can anyone identify the revolver tucked in the belt of this unidentified gent? We're sure he's a relative of mine on my mom's side, but mom can't say for sure who he is. A great-great grandfather or uncle of mine, possibly. He was proud of his sixgun and wanted his picture made with it. Serious looking old dude. Probably from Marion, Lamar, or Winston county, Alabama.

The barely visible shadow at the end of the butt makes me want to believe it's a Merwin Hulbert. It also appears that there is a full under lug on the barrel. Nasty looking dude. No night encounter would turn out good.

My guess it's a muzzle loading pistol as I think I see a large side hammer. I don't think the grip shape is like a Merwin & Hulbert's.

I'm not sure it's just tucked under the belt. It looks like that's either a special made belt or belt slide it's in.
As to the revolver, maybe a Model 3 Russian?

Any known Native American blood in the family line? This gent looks like he might have had a drop or two.

Yes, I've always heard there was some Native American blood on that side of my family, although I have no confirmation of it.

I was able to sharpen the image a bit. Expand it now and see what you think about his sixshooter. It seems to be nickel plated, which as we know makes it notoriously hard to get a sharp image.
