Hello all, as many of you know I am a Canadian citizen
Recently the evil prince Justin has decided to table legislation to freeze transfers in the very near future . It is unclear when the actual ban will be implemented ,but we can be sure it's coming
The freeze will make it so you can't sell buy inherit or give away a handgun
I have enough ready cash to buy one more nice handgun
My first thought is a colt SAA as I have never owned one but there are a number of S&W that are on the "the list"
What would you all get if you only had enough time and money to buy 1 ?

Saw a 6"RM, ask was $7000 cdn that is a little rich for me I would like to keep it under 2500 if I could.
would go a bit more for something special

I believe once I'm gone they will be crushed cut up or otherwise destroyed
Unless they are stolen as I lay on my deathbed

I'd go Dirty Harry. Or in your case Dirty Jacque. Model 29 44 mag. It's the most powerful handgun in the Provence. It shoots bullets the size of hockey pucks.

I would go with your first thought on the 1873 saa. Back in January, Dale Robertson's sold for $4250 That was a great buy for such a significant tv revolver. I would liked to have owned it, but that would have cut into my S&W funds. Look it up if you have a moment. Kraft Auction Service, Indiana

Well, since you asked if I had the time AND money, it would be a 3.5" Model 27.

Sadly, prices have risen to the point of being beyond what I consider reasonable for most of the handguns I really like.

But thankfully, my accumulation was acquired when prices were reasonable, and I don't see the NEED to add anything else. But I'm always on the lookout for a screamin' deal!

By the way, good luck up there.
Thanks. We are going to need it, and, possibly, a miracle.
The criminals are having a good laugh, though. So at least someone's happy.

I am sure they must have boating accidents in Canada, eh
And lotsa lakes. And they haven't outlawed fishing (yet)...

I would love to have a Loveless custom Model 41--they are truly scarce and when one does come up for sale they go for $5-6K. If I were in Canada, knowing that the pistol would eventually be destroyed, I would thoroughly enjoy the pistol while it was mine--I'd shoot the snot out of it!

A high condition 4.5" Colt Woodsman Match Target would also fit the bill and it might be a little easier to find, lol.

I think you would be pleased with a good Colt SAA but the discontinued USFA guns are probably better shooters, if I had to choose between the two I would take the USFA--better fit and finish than most Colts. If all that's available is a Colt, make sure it's a good one.

Good luck with your next (but hopefully not last) purchase!

Knowing that the gun will be destroyed upon your death changes things a bit.

Sure does. I'd hate to spend good money on a classic or collectible, knowing it's going to get ground up later.

If it were me in this circumstance, I'd take my 5 best revolvers and oil them well, wrap them in wax paper, vacuum-bag them, and have a good friend slip them into my casket before the lid was closed. Maybe they wouldn't do me any good, but at least the government wouldn't get them.

Imagine a few thousand years later, some archaeologist finds your bones, along with a few perfect condition revolvers.

Might be tough to explain why you had a restricted firearm in your fishing boat though lol

Guess I've got pretty simple tastes so it'd be a vintage pristine 686, 586, or a birth year K-22. But that model 41 could be possibility too.

I would transfer every handgun I wanted to pass down before the ban went into effect.

The first handgun I ever owned was a S&W 915. I always regretted selling it. I'd get another.
