I would not choose any of the listed guns, I would want the .45acp Luger #2 or more realistically a Thompson M1921 by Colt.

Not as pretty as some of yours but it's a good one.

A Colt, modified in the 80's with a K frame sight and good trigger job.

I couldn't even afford a holster, so I had 'em add a clip and "Mexican" carried.

Still a good choice for a "if I could only take one" 45.

The Wilson combat 5" is THE best 1911 I have EVER owned.

The Ed Brown Commander sized is a close #2.

As much as I enjoy the P220, if it came down to it, I'd pick one of my 1911's as THE gun. Probably the full size 1911 Sc with the SFS kit. But an all steel 1911 might be the better choice if this a "forever" scenario.

Of the options listed I've only owned/shot 1911s, so that would be my first choice. I'm not sure which one I'd pick, though; there're so many to choose from. While I have an appreciation for more traditional 1911A1 full-size variants, I think a Commander or CCO would be more practical for all-around use, at least for me. I like the Sig C3, a lightweight CCO, but the DW CCO VBOB is also appealing.

I don't have much experience with non-1911 .45s. I tried a Sig P220 once, but it was a little too big for my hands. I'd be curious to see if Sig makes the P220 Compact DAK with a short trigger.

For all options except carry it would be a 4" 625.

However, if for carrying the thing and to use it for all those other options then a 4506. A particularly tough and durable 45 auto, especially if I might need some heavier handloads that should last the long haul without much problem. And I like the TDA. Non-S&W tie...HK45USP.
I have never been much of a 1911 fan.

Short answer:my Wilson Combat CQB railed 5". I carry it in a Brommeland IWB holster, very comfortable, never any issues with the pistol.I had to swallow hard at purchase time but " quality is remembered long after price us forgotten"

My current favorite right now is my 4506 with adjustable night sights. Its built like a tank and with speers 200 Gold Dots Ive gotten 1 1/2 inch groups from a rest at 25 yds. when I do my part. This is a great gun.

Within the limits postulated, a Les Baer 5" 1911 of some sort. I'm pretty sure that he makes the best of that type, and a 1911 is very easy for me to carry in a Summer Special (easier than a Commander), and fits my hand pretty well. I'd really rather carry a 1917 or M25 mod, and the 325 doesn't tilt me much to the right, but I guess you were ruling out the guns that aren't such a hassle to unload and load safely. Of course, if you only unload them at weekly practice at the range, that may not be an issue.
