If you could ONLY HAVE 1 .45ACP....

Another vote for the Sig Sauer P220.

10mm fanatic ringing in. I keep a 220/CT grips on the nightstand. I like the choices of 45 ammo much more today than when I converted to 10mm in the 80's.

Tough choice indeed. If I had to pick just one out of the 4 45's I have it would have to be my satin nickel 1970's Colt Combat Commander. It's a beast, a tool, and a 100% reliable/accurate defense weapon.

If I could only have one .45acp, it would be this one. A 70 series Gold Cup. Bought it used in 1979. Has been worked over a couple of times over the years until it was just the way I wanted it.
If I ever became so destitute that I had to sell off all my guns, this one would be one of the last to go.

But I`m very glad that I`m not limited to just one .45acp. It`s one of the all time classics and there are so many to pick from.
I own several others besides the Colt Gold Cup and would not like to part with any of them.

The only .45 I own is a 4516-1. It has never jammed, it's compact and it's the one I carry.

I love the 1911. It was the first pistol I ever shot and has an unmatched history. Even so, I have never felt comfortable carrying one. Don't ask me to justify it, that is just the way it is.

Of the choices you gave- S&W Model 4506 because I have had one in the past and it gave yeoman service.
Outside the box- S&W Model 25-2. carried one as a service revolver for many moons.
any other brand named I would receive a "VISIT" from the S&W Forum Enforcement Squad. (Goon Squad).

Well, I hate to say it but, I am pretty much done with 1911's. I wanted something that is pretty much reliable. I had a Colt Officers and a SA full size. Just tired of stripping them down to clean after the range of for general cleaning. I have experianced occasional misfeeds or stove-pipes that I am sure happens with all automatics. But I sold them both and am sold on Sig Sauers. They have just as nice of a balance if not better and are dependable as hell, the takedown for cleaning is soooooo much easier than the 1911's that I had.

So to answer which 45 I would take, it would be my
Sig Sauer P220.

In a revolver, pretty much any S&W.

If I could have only one, it would have to be the Colt 1905 Model that my uncle gave me years ago. He got it from his brother who won it in a card game in Texas in 1932. It has almost no finish and the barrel is corroded from corrosive primers and neglect but its the only family heirloom I have and I could never give it up.

For an actual using gun, I guess it would be my plain Series 80 blued Government Model. It's stock and is a good shooter. I have been through a lot of .45 acp's but its the one I have held onto the longest. My daughter considers it her pistol so it has to stay.

Of the list, I have the 4506, 645 and 745, plus a 625 (5") and some misc 1911 mimics (Norinco & Hafsada). For sheer accuracy out of the box, the 745 but for use as a fighting weapon, the 4506. If necessary you can club your opponent to death when out of ammo! Dave_n

Of the choices given it would be the M&P 45. Easy to carry open or concealed if needed. 11 rounds in the gun, or 15 if I plug in the extra long mag. Relatively light weight for a full size gun. With the threaded barrel option it can be supressed easily, if I turn into a ninja or something. 100% reliable, so far...... I'm just glad I'm not limited to one gun!

One gun in .45 ACP? I'd want to keep this one.

It is accurate, nice looking, and comfortable once I changed out the weird grips.

I haven't read all the posts and don't know if anyone has listed it yet, but mine would be a 22-4 Thunder Ranch, with diamond Magnas and a Tyler T.

I had a chance at one for a good price at a LGS and didn't get it, figuring I'd find another without too much trouble. Ain't happened since--at least not when I've had the money in the gun fund!

I went back and looked at th OP--I didn't know I had to choose from a list!

I'd still choose the 22-4...

In a revolver it would have to be a Model 25 Mountain Gun in .45 Colt.

i just ordered a colt rail gun...stainless 5"...beautiful gun roll stamped>>> 100 years of service
S&W is my number one gun but i like pony's as well

I have a number of 1911 pattern guns in .45, 38super and 9x23.
All have had the master touch of a GOOD gunsmith and are better than excellent weapons.
The one in this picture is my "on a bet" Norinco .45.
It is, as are all of mine, utterably reliable andI love it.
Blessings

I might just sell my guns and carry a stack of one shot stop data to knock the bad guy down. As much as has been written and said about the supposed stopping power of one handgun rd. vs. another....if only you had some mechanism for launching all of this junk it would absolutely stop any perp in his tracks. It would be like pouring wet cement over Jimmy Hoffa.
