If you could only have one pistol??

I'd take any .45 auto. Heavy, yes, but they will put the target on the ground.

Pistol

According to the Encyclopedia Britannica, there are two important classes of pistol: revolvers and automatics.
If I could only have one then it would be my N frame that can shoot .357 magnum, 38 +P and Special.

Just wanting to strike a conversation of opinions, if you could only have one pistol, what would it be? A reason why would be great too.

Play nice kids.

My Baby Desert Eagle II 9mm. It's basically a CZ-75BD in Desert Eagle Clothing.

There is no finer, better shooting, reliable 9mm than the CZ-75 platform IMHO.

The Polygonal rifling isn't fond of Lead bullets, but that's the only gripe.

I'd choose this over my 1911, my M9 (close call here), my Rugers and even my M29.

IF I could only have one :)

Now, if this was a prefix to some sort of apocolyptic event, then I'd have to change my mind and go with my Ruger GP100 .38/.357. As someone else said, there's just nothing to go wrong here and the ammo is plentiful.

only one

I would keep my model 25-9 in 45LC with a 4" barrel. Love that gun. PD

You could be sneaky, and carry a 329PD loaded with 340gr .44Mag +P+ Buffalo Bore Ammo.

Then just toss it to your attacker, duck, and watch him crack his skull open when he fires it.

See, and you didn't even have to resort to pulling a trigger :)

My M&P wouldn't be the choice for sure. I wouldn't want to be dealing with only two magazines.

No question. M&P9 Shield.

That's a Florida thing. It's not the rule in a lot of other States.

Actually, Florida excuses "accidental" shows and printing.

....well....I cheat. It would be a 1911 in .38 Super...to start.... Add a 9mm and 9x23 barrel for find anywhere ammo along with a more powerful round...

Then add a .45 slide with the ability to run .45 ACP, .45 Super, 400 CorBon and .40 Super. Then a Delta Slide with 10mm, .40 S&W and .357 SIG barrels...

Then a couple of .22 Conversion Units for combat practice, bullseye and plinking...

And finally a MechTech Carbine Conversion if a little more reach is needed....

Engieman,
I know this is a little off topic here but I would like to ask being you mentioned Mr. John M. Browning.. I have a chance ot get a like new copy of the High-Power 9mm it's like new made by FEG only shot a few times it's 98% as New and about 15+ years old.. is it a good gun? Is it worth having? I didn't jump on it as a friend has it and is willing to wait till I decide.. Price is $200 bucks.. I'm a 1911 lover and that was the gun i picked earlier in this post if I could only have one gun but thinking this may make a nice companion piece to my Colt.. What do you think? George
For $200 I would jump on it before he changes his mind.

Wow, only one...that's like asking me to pick my favorite kid (although they make that easy some days).

Restricting myself to what I have access to would be the GP100. Built like a tank. No need to worry about magazines and ammo is versatile and relatively easy to come by.

It would be my Springfield Armory TRP Operator Full Rail... It is just about perfect, and is the most accurate 1911 I have ever fired.

Pistol only would be my PC 1911 but if revolvers were included without a doubt my 686 4"

If were to have only one pistol... It would be a 1911.

My first handgun... Beretta 92FS .. used to use it in competitions, never any problems. Plenty of magazines and 9mm readily available (well not as much now...getting better)
