If you were going to stock up on two powders, what would they be?

Two would be really hard, but if I had to I could get by with three. To start, I would go with Green Dot and a Garand suitable powder (4895, 4064, etc.) Green Dot will do all my light/moderate pistol and all shotshell except .410 bore, plus some cast bullet rifle. The rifle powder can load everything I shoot at full power with jacketed plus be safe in my Garands. However, I would need 2400 to do full magnum pistol, cast rifle, and .410 bore. If you truly demanded I limited it to two I'd probably give up full power rifle shooting and go with the Green Dot and 2400. I enjoy cast rifle more, and I consider myself a shotgunner first and foremost.

These may not be the optimal choices for e erything I listed (or even what I currently prefer) but they can cover it!

Clays and Universal. If they were available I would have at least 24-32 lbs. of Universal and another 16 lbs. of Clays. As for why, I shoot competitive 4 gun Skeet and 32 lbs. of Universal is about a 2 year supply. They are both wonderful shotgun powders, nice and bulky to support a pretty crimp and shoot quite clean at pressures ranging from 7000 to 11500 psi. Longshot is what I currently use for 20 and 28 and while it's consistent and produces good patterns it is distinctly dirty and the higher density results in stack height issues and dished crimps. BTW nearly everyone uses H110 for the 410 and that is really filthy at an operating pressure of 10,000 psi.

Accurate #2 and Nitro100NF. If I could get a third it would be Enforcer, CFE Pistol or HS6. I keep a good stash of all of those but use more #2 than anything and although I have a lot of 231 I’ve pretty much abandon 231.

Obviously I have many more than 2 powders on hand, but the two I would seek to never run out of are HP38/231 and Acccurate #9. If you’d allow me 3 powders, I’d add Green Dot to my list and actually feel fairly comfortable.
I’d really hate to try and trim down that lean, though!

Varget and Titegroup. Only thing that won't take care of is magnum pistol loads. H110 has always been my go to for that.

At this point in time it would be easy to limit the number of calibers being reloaded for, so Unique and W748. Unique would cover the vast majority of my pistol loads, and W748 would cover my loads in 223 and 308.

I have a about 12# Of tite group that would cover my pistol reloading. Also have about 10 or 12# of various other powders for pistol cartridges.

Rifle wise I don't have much powder so I guess H335 would cover the rifles I own. I have only reloaded .223 so far but also have dies for .308, 30-06, & 7mm if needed.
