I could not believe that "the land of Lincoln" had such a ban. All firearms owners need to belong to the NRA. I am so glad that the courts ruled in favor of self defense.

I see where the 7th Circuit stayed the ruling for 180 days, to allow the Illinois legislature to craft and pass an acceptable law.

Long time coming.

Congrats, Illinoians!!

Finally! Hopefully the politicians don't make actually getting a permit nearly impossible.

His Majesty Rahn I is having a cow about now! Until Illinois gets rid of cook county ..... rots o ruck! I hope you guys make it but don't bet the farm.

I hope for citizens of Illinois that they don't make it so restrictive that average citizens get denied a permit. I would love to see the day when all states adopt "shall issue".

I read the news story and some of the anti-gunners are thinking of filing an appeal, some of the law makers are thinking of reintroducing the bill from last year for the concealed carry law they wanted but was voted down. I hope it goes thru quickly my son and daughter-in-law and grand children live in Rockford Il, the area has seen and increase in home invasions in the last year.

I, and many others have already emailed our legislators regarding the uprising that will happen if the law is too restrictive. We will be watching like a hawk and the legislators from north of I80 can't be trusted. I'm betting it will be a year before we will actually be able to file an application.

I also live in the Rockford area. There seems to be a lot of spill over from the Chicago gangs. Quinn, Madigan and Rahm won't make the CCW law easy. I suspect they will push for a NY type law--you have to have a need for CCW.

Living within 3 miles of the Illinois border and 7 miles of the Chicago line it's a real concern for me. 30 yrs ago some Illinois PD's would cut you some slack if they found a gun on you during a traffic stop. Today it's considered a major hoop dee doo bust. I try not to go anywhere near Illinois.

Probably the best policy for a long time to come. The electronic media has carefully engineered their coverage to make any minor incident involving a firearm - especially at an airport  - seem like a nuclear cataclysm. Its too bad they don't have anything constructive to do, like reporting on the real, downward-spiraling social and financial cataclysm taking place daily in this country.

Hopefully this works out well for the good folks in IL. It will be interesting to see how "Crook" County and its representatives and officials react. Doubtless they will model themselves after NYC - or worse - and thereby create their own, to paraphrase General Spiedel, "fantastic wilderness of thought" in dealing with the subject.

Remains to be seen how CCW will come to us stuck in the People's Republic of Illinois. While I'm overjoyed at the ruling, I'm also realistic enough to know the Cook Co gang is gonna try to make things difficult, at the very least. I've already e-mailed, and called my local politicos to implore them to move quickly. Stay tuned...

Yeah, it could be good and bad. They could make us jump through flaming hoops and swing from trapezes to actually get a permit. I've been in this state for 4 years and am now fighting to get out to a more free state...

As a citizen of Illinois, I won't hold my breath for this fight to be over for several more years... And that the outcome, thanks to our "friends" north of I-80, will probably not be to what most of us "down staters" would prefer.

I don't know he details, but some of the reports are saying that after 180 days, if IL doesn't pass a CC law, then citizens can carry with no CC license at all, Vermont style.

So supposedly the shoe is on the other foot now.
