I got my motorcycle endorsement on my drivers license last Friday, so I've been racking up the miles right in my neighborhood to learn how to ride without being out in traffic. Wednesday night I was just around the corner from my house, there is an abandoned house, the owner passed away about a month ago and evidently she was a cat lady. As I approached the house I saw that there were kittens everywhere.

I cut my ride short and went home and got some food and headed back over. This is the first pic, at one point I counted 13 kittens, and I'm sure there were more.

I have 4 cats already, two bonded pairs, one pair I rescued about 9 years ago, and a pair of littermates I rescued about 7 years ago. Now I have 6 cats, hopefully 3 bonded pairs!

The first one came running right up to me crying, I would say maybe 8 weeks old, that's the dark one in the picture, this one came home Thursday afternoon, and just thrives on attention, purrs up a storm and just can't get enough loving. It's been my experience you don't adopt 1 cat, you get them in pairs so they will bond. So I fell right in love with the white one in the pic, obviously some seal point siamese in the mix, this one came home today. This one is little more aloof, maybe 2-3 weeks older but already seems to be settling in nicely after only a few hours. I have them quarantined in a big dog crate in my living room until I can get them to a shelter, checked out and officially adopted. Right now they're both curled up in a cardboardbox I put in the crate so thing are looking good with the bonding.

I got the word out, and a neighbor caught 2 last night and took them home, another neighbor took 2 this morning and took the home. When I was over there this afternoon the local animal control person was trapping them and rounding them up and taking them to local shelters, (no kill shelters).

So, I'm in the midst of getting ready for a cross country move, and now I will have 6 cats to move instead of 4! I couldn't just walk away.

Sorry for the sideways pics, I couldn't figure out how to rotate them.

I hear what you are saying Rusty. I am a cat lover from way back, you can never have too many! But as you say, the space and means comes into play. My wife told me when I rescued the last two 7 years ago if I brought any more home she would divorce me. When I told her about this plight she caved immediately!

And thank you for fixing the pics!

Bless you for your tenderness!

In 43 years Ruthie and I have been adopted by 30 cats. Our current clowder consists of 13. If we had the means and more space we would open our doors to more.

They are all a constant source of joy for Ruthie, Logan, JR and me.

I learned a while ago to get them in pairs, they entertain each other and just seem to adjust quicker when they have a mate. My last adoption was from a local rescue for an older male and a much younger (big kitten) male that had bonded to the older boy at the rescue. I had them together for about 4 years and just recently lost my older boy. The young one's personality has changed a great deal since he lost his buddy. I am at a crossroads on what to do. Bless you for taking those 2 in and trying to find homes for the others, cats left to turn feral become nuisances pretty quickly.

Get another male kitten, younger the better. I have found that the older cat sees it as something to protect and teach, and not a threat. The kitten doesn't really "adjust" so much as learn. Not surefire, but it could help the older one cope with the loss of his companion.
Whatever you do, bless you for caring.

Here's my friend of 18 years.
A 9/16 socket fled under a bench where no man would see it again, when it rolled back out.
Upon further investigation, a much younger version of her smacked me in the face and scampered off.
The story takes a few turns, but a fish net and a pet carrier later, I'm sure you can figure it out

I'm picturing this in my head and laughing until tears are streaming out.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

You did well! Thankyou for doing what you did.
This is my most recent employer..... She was the smallest of her litter, always late to eat, a bit clumsy (for a cat) and last for everything. She wasn't going to make it through the approaching winter, so she came to live at our place. We have been on her staff for several years. She has evolved into the largest cat that has ever had me on staff.
