...what is the fastest STREET LEGAL car you have ever driven...Motorcycle street and dirt?

For me:
. Car- not mine but a friend had a 1962 Corvette blown 427 ci engine and spring loaded 4-on-the-floor. You wanna talk about over powered.....

. Street 1986 thru 1998-My 1985 Honda V-65 Magna. 1100cc, shaft drive 6 speed. It was the fastest production Motorcycle made that year. It too, for me at least, it was way over powered. I was a little light in the seat of the pants for a bike that strong. I'm just grateful (and lucky, very lucky) I survived it.

.Dirt 1973-It wasn't mine but a friend had a Honda Elcinore 250cc. Bored out, jetted up, and head milled. You grab a handful of that beast you better be ready to get on down the street.

Owned? My Honda CBR1000RR. 180+ mph in stock fashion and if you change gearing and make some performance modifications, easily a lot faster.

Driven? Fastest car was a 2012 corvette with twin turbos. Don't know what it would do, and I didn't want to find out. My friend built it, sold it later on after he lost his license in it. I've driven some door-slammers that ran the 1/4 mile in under 9 seconds. That's a different type of speed.

Dirt - that's tough. I had the chance to ride a Service Honda 500 - a CR 250 with a CR 500 motor wedged into the frame. I've never owned anything faster than a Yamaha YZ450.

Edited to ad - My dad still has his V65 Magna, and while fast, it's more scary than fast, while a modern sport bike will be significantly faster, they are not near as terrifying to ride as that Magna is.

750 Norton Comando-369 pounds-69 raucous HP Or maybe a 71 CB 750 Honda, that's the one not allowed in comp-had different cams than others of that model. My 1965 GTO 389 with 1 AFB-close box and 373 gears. It would red line in fourth and shuck the fan belt-probably about 140 mph. Now, if we were including those I rode in...

Fastest cars driven belonged to high school classmates: ‘65 Corvette, ‘63 XKE ROadster, and a ‘64 GTO. I had both of the sports cars over 100; they were both probably good for something in the 140-150 range. I saw 135 on the Pontiac’s speedo, which was about it for that car. Most exciting was a mid-‘70s Lotus Europa with the Cosworth twin-cam motor, because it stuck so well in the turns.

I have ridden a couple of flavors of Japanese squidware, not fast. Fastest on two wheels is 135 on my Guzzi LeMans, and about 125 (140 indicated, but the bike is not that fast, red line in top would be 125. Resulted in a ticket, a story in itself.

Fastest dirt bike, KTM 520.

Owned a 79 Corvette once, I ran it up to 120 MPH and it scared me so bad, I never got a ticket after that.
Before that, in my much younger days, I had a Triumph TR3 motorcycle--I down shifted at about 80 MPH and it popped a wheelie---got out of the cycle business shortly after that.

Haha, I'm posting mostly to subscribe. In comparison, I've lived a sheltered life! Fastest car I have owned...?! None, honestly. Driven? Probably a mid-90's Acura NSX, and I wasn't allowed to drive it fast. ;) Ridden in? Either a '98 Corvette convertible or a '92 Mustang GT. Driven both, been around 135 in both but wasn't driving. Also drove a friend's '87 T-Type Regal that was chipped, it was fast but I didn't take it over a hundred.

Cycles, I've owned six and have logged over 100k in the saddle but none have been brawlers. My '93 Honda CB-750 had me over 120, that was fast enough for me.

A teaching buddy had a TransAm that had the largest engine that GM put in them back in the late 60's or mid 70's. I think it had a 460 CU or something like that. He said it would do 145 mph. Like an idiot I challenged him to show me late one night. He told the truth but that was the last time and only time I have ever gone that fast. Never again!

1989 Yamaha Vmax 1200. Fastest stock bike made in those years. Scary bike...ran like a raped ape in a straight line, but handled corners like wet linguini...

Bike Ducati 999 It would probably hit close to 100 in 2nd gear

Car (not mine) 1985 (?) Ferrari 308...backed out of it at about 180

Nothing on dirt

1968 442, 1970 240Z, 1973 Kawasaki Z1 900, 1970 Porsche 911T.

Those were all gone by 1978 when I became a respectable married man.

Mid 80s I bought a Honda XL600 single cyl dirt bike and rode it long enough to realize it was my most dangerous toy yet so I moved to fast boats. 1984 Hydro-Sport bassboat w 200hp Black Max Mercury and Kevlar hull. True 70 mph+ ball buster.

Last super fast thing was a BMW R1100R that I sold a few years ago.

Still have a 2004 Mustang GT convertible but my Transit van and Ridgeline are both 6 bangers and mama's Acura is a 4 cyl. My aluminum boat has a 90hp Merc. Last speeding ticket was a Florida speed trap in 1997. I've had a bundle before my last one, though.

A 1975 Trans Am. Built 455. Bored, cammed, headers, Edelbrock, Dual pump/feed Holley. Turbo 400 with B&M hydro setup. 160mph on Highway. 22 seconds between mile posts. About 165mph. Drove it once on the highway with headers uncorked.

the car I drove to work...

the fastest is the car I drove to work today... 2013 Mustang BOSS 302...
on track I hit 140 mph out of the 155 possible before the computer says no... I have had some great cars in the past that all hit at least 120... but those were scary at that speed... and a little floaty... 1972 DeTomaso Pantera... 1967 Firebird convertible big block... 1990 GT Mustang... 1972 Buick Skylark convertible - top down on the interstate... someone in the back seat asked how fast will this thing go... so I showed them... pegged the speedo and then some.. 120 mph plus... very scary and not ever going to do that again... and yes the back seat passengers were huddled on the floor... only motorcycle I have is a 1974 GSCC 90cc... so maybe 40 mph... downhill.... 10.5 hp... it was a blurr...lol

65 vette...

Was your ride in the incredible 425 HP 396 in the 1965 vette? Wow!
