I love motor sports! NASCAR, Indy racing, all boats, planes etc.

Today, I've got my fat butt in my chair and will watch all of the Indy 500 followed by the Coca Cola 600

Being so close to me I visited the Brickyard several times in the 90's and early 2000's.

Quite the experiences.

Even if my TV could get the Monaco race, it's on too early for this nightbird in the Pacific time zone. DVR for the win.

The thing I miss is when Indy was the hotbed of innovation. Who was bringing something new and different, whether body style, type of power, whatever Andy G came up with. While still exciting, it’s now the Chevy Honda 500

For the first time in years I woke up for the F1 race in Monaco.
So far it's been a good day of racing with Indy just finishing. I really need to take a nap before the 600 starts...LOL

I don't see what fun/interest is in watching a bunch of drivers, speeding up, then braking, making a left turn and then repeating the whole process all over again for 500 miles! Sorta like watching paint dry.

Bill, are you a fan of other spectator sports? i was raised around dirt track racing and there is not much motorsports that i wont watch. krs/kenny

I live right at 2 Hours from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway; I usually go to Practice at least once and qualifying for the for the 500 never been to a race. This Year my Lovely Wife bought me tickets.I was live at the 500 it was a lot of fun and we had a great time. My Seats were right across from Scott Dixons pit.
After i get i my Yard work done today i will watch DVR version

The Indy 500 has been on my bucket list since I was a kid. Probably by the time I get there, all the cars will be electric.

My favorite race of the year.........
where a car is free to run all out and a diver can drive the car to win or
even let that be decided by the pit crew and maybe even the events that happen on the track by ill fated drivers, that make a mistake.

If your car is set up just right, you might even stay out and hope you have enough gas in the tank to take the flag............
or be like some that end up out of fuel at the last 1/4 mile and have to coast across the line and have 6-7 cars pass you for the big money pay out.

In 1961 the Army assigned me for a TDY to Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. While being there, my bride and I took a tour of the Speedway, including a run around the oval in a (!) Volkswagen mini-bus.

So I can say that I've been around that famous racing venue - I still remember the "brickyard."

In my youth, I never missed hearing an Indy race on the radio, and I usually washed and waxed my car while listening. It was invigorating! I watched the full race yesterday and it sure brought back some fond memories.

No I'm not.

If, (and that is a BIG if) I want to find out who won the football, baseball, basketball, racing, hockey, etc. event, I'll look for it the newspaper the next day. Wasting time watching grown men fight over something (ball, leader of a pack of vehicles, puck, etc.) makes absolutely no sense to me!

As a kid in the late '40s and early '50s, I'd be under a shade tree in the back yard on Memorial Day, drinking lemonade, listening to the race reported live on a radio on a long extension cord from the back porch, and filling in the developing race details on the double-page spread in the Indianapolis Star. Those were the days.

I watch Indycar when they race on road and street circuits but oval track never did it for me. It just always seemed irrelevant to real world driving. And I subscribe to F1TV, so I watch the races when I'm ready. Which is a luxury when I remember getting hooked on F1 when Jackie Stewart was winning world championships but you had to read about the race three months later in Road & Track.

I won't even get started about watching Mark Donahue go down the cork screw at Laguna Seca in a Porsche 917/30 at the '73 CanAm...

Catching a glimpse of Ericcson's girlfriend was the highlight of the race. A keeper.
