I recently came across this 2.5" Model 19-4. At first glance it looked like a normal transitional 19-4 with a pinned barrel but without a recessed cylinder that someone had added fingergroove Combat stocks to (2.5" M19s don't come with targets
).
Once I started looking at it, I noticed a couple things that didn't seem 'right' to me.
For one, the serial number is stamped in the yoke cut.
At least on Combat Magnums, before 1994, the serial number is only stamped in the yoke cut on the square butt frames that had target stocks that covered the serial number on the butt. The serial number is not stamped in the yoke cut on the RB frames because it had magnas. I suspect it's the same on the other KT-s (M14-19).
Secondly, it has a three letter prefix.
There are a bunch of 19-5s and 66-2s in the 100K, 200K, and 300K range. I am surprised to see a 19-4 with a three letter prefix.
