Interesting speedloader

I am not sure how it works, but it appears that flipping the handle releases the cartridges.

Hey, that was me that won that auction (Jacobsgift). I had seen one like it before (on this forum) and really liked it. Wow, I bought that 3 months ago. How'd you find the closed auction from that long ago? Anyhow, I prob paid too much for it ($50 buy it now) but had to have it.
Also, I think there is another one for sale right now by the same seller...same price only it is silver in color whereas mine is blued.
Neat item. Goes very well with my 30's revos.

Memphis, I found the auction by looking at what other goodies the guy (you) bought on GB including the nice 38/44 you just won.

Congrats on the Heavy Duty, it is nice!

38/44??? Man I love those things. Let me know what auction number that one is. I didn't know I won one. I did bid on a neat ole Pre War 4 incher but didn't meet the reserve. Maybe that's the one you're talking about.

I think,,but I'm just guessing from the pics,,, but I think you just place the cartridges into the open cylinder and pull the whole assembly sideways. The stepped rounds clear each other that way by the different chambering depth. Closest to the operator is chambered the deepest,,, the farthest away the least amount, so the assembly can clear all rounds as it slides off.

Maybe the torsion spring on the back holds the shellholder assembly(s) in place. The shell holders look to be in pairs of 3. Perhaps you can remove them for replacement or caliber change.
And then I could be all wrong and just have invented another speed loader

Interesting...since the c clips are all facing the same direction, it looks like you would drop it in and slide it off...but I wonder why the cartridges are different heights...also, not sure what the spring lever would do since the clips look like they are solid...

Don't waste your money on them. I've got one and hate it. They don't hold the shells well when loaded and are hard to get the shells in the cylinder and get the loader to release.

but I wonder why the cartridges are different heights

The info on the similar rubber speedloader says the cartridges are stepped to ease alignment with the cylinder. Instead of lining up all six, once you get two lined up it should drop in.

Abbynormal - I have them for my 5 shot J frame and love 'em. The secret is to spray them with an aerosol silicone lubricant . They hold the rounds just fine and release like a dream when you want them to.

I too have one of these loades and would love to know how old it is.
You are correct about the way the rounds are stepped. If they wern't you would not be able to pull the loader sideways off the cartridges. The loader is actually in two halves which hinge along the middle. The torsion spring holds the two halves together in as per the picture. You can hinge the two halves through 90 Deg. I speculate that this is so that the loader can be held in some sort of pouch and would be much flatter -less than two rounds deep. If I am correct, then when you pull it out of the pouch, the two halves would spring into the loading position.

Why doesn't a company make new versions of the metal one instead of the awkward, sloppy silicone rubber one?

I think a lot of thought went into the metal one after looking at mine.
