INTERNET SNUBBY MATCH

Can I use a Colt in this or does the gun have to be a Smith? My Dad has a Colt Mustang that I was able to do this with on my third magazine of ever shooting the gun, off hand at seven yards.

That is only six shots but if we can use other brands of guns I think I may enter a target with his Colt.

10 yards, two-handed, 638

Sorry for the poor photo - I'm better with a gun than a camera.
This was shot 2-handed at 10 yards, with a 638; ammo was 125gr.

Later in the day went back and forth between the 638 and the 442, and I was consistently better with the 638.Maybe that's because I can see the sights better.

Two handed hold, just hold the gun in the left for 10 shots and in the right for 10 more. I am having fun with this one. I am kind of ambidextrous. I am a welder and mechanic, so both my hands do stuff.

This gives the lefties an advantage for a change.

Enter early, Enter often :D

David

That 45 is my EDC for the next few days. IWB in a Kydex holster. After that the 637 will feel like nothing.

Please measure your groups. I use the ruler in the picture and get 3 3/4". Nice shooting

Go back and do it again! :)

Harley fan, I see you have a 45. Want to start a match?

Does a 3" officers model count as a snubby?

David

Hahaha! Well, I'll try to get to the range to do the opposite hand.

And- YES, I have a brand new Colt M1991 Ser. 80 I bartered for with some woodworking. I've been over talking to the reloader guys about .45acp reloading COL, etc. I got that ironed out, but for the life of me, after putting 300ish rounds thru it, I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. :D

I'll post a target or two from my next visit, but they may be "for your eyes only" via Personal Message. Hahahaha!

~~

Taking a sec to thank you, David R, for starting this informal thread. You have stated the object of this is to have fun... and I have. My snub gets more than equal attention nowadays.

:D:D:D

Picking up a 2" model 10 tomorrow and hope to enter this weekend! :)

OFF topic, but, I picked up a 4" 15-3 yesterday. Its one sweet gun. Like new condition, box and all. I shot it yesterday and will be going to the range today.

How many are up for a 45 acp match, revolver or semi?

David

I'm game.

Got my prize.

Thanks.

They may get some use as 10m small bore targets.

I'm in, as long as it's not a snubbie. I have a 4" M624, a series 70 Combat Commander and a Norwegian M1914.

DA or SA shooting?

For September no restriction.
7 yards 10 rounds strong hand, 10 rounds weak hand. One or two hand hold, single or double action.

October is 25 yards DA.

All matches 10 rounds. Judged by group size. Post a picture of your target, gun and a ruler. Post the size of your group center to center.

If you look at the post dates, the match is announced around the first of the month.

Winner gets 25 targets like posted above.

Here is my October target

OK, I get 2 5/8" group. YOU measure it and report back.

You were not supposed to tell us yer a lefty. Just shoot the target and report which hand it was shot with.

David

OK... here's the target I shot last week... David, I get 2.53". This was done DA, with my left... as I am a southpaw. Two hand hold.

Here's the opposite hand. Meaning my right. Two hand hold. Man! That felt bizarre. I did 60 rounds, and I was all over the place, trying and failing to better the one below.

I'm a dummy...still not clear on how the winners determined. do you average the results of LH and RH groups, or award one for each.
Probably over thinking it too much. Sorry.

Either way, here's my results from today.

I brought three out, a 325PD, my carry gun- mod 442-2 and the Taurus 94.

The Taurus would be my 'money gun' in this contest. I shot single action, DA would have been too tough to hold anything together left handed.

For craps and giggles, I threw 10 downrange with the Win Ranger 130gr +p stuff I used in the 442, but fom my Bond .357 Derringer.
Just a RH effort. One bbl really held stuff tight, pretty amazing for me and the heavy SA trigger. Max spread was 5.5" between the two 5 shot groups made by each bbl.
Maybe we should have a Derringer match.

Lastly, my only two handed shots today, 1/sec at 7yrds DA.

I think I will try once more. Great shooting. Love the derringer.
