INTERNET SNUBBY MATCH

Ill try

This is great idea. Ill post my targets in a few days. Only got 30 ft and 50 ft. So Ill shoot them both 642.

I don't think I would have bought them had I read up on them more (at least not in .357 Magnum). I would say they are high quality ammunition but for the money I would rather have something else in a magnum load and will most definitely remember that the next time I'm buying .357 loads.

I really like the idea, they'd make a nice balance of power/ recoil in smaller revolvers in .357, esp the LCR.
So far, I've tried 158gr sjsp, and the Hornady Citical Zombie stuff in 125gr, both of those have some recoil in the LCR....but not as bad as you'd expect in a 17oz gun.

My 649-5 is a little heavier than your LCR so it's not really that bad for recoil. In fact I shot a few Hornady Critical Defense 125gr out of it and they shot really nice.

Out of the Magnum loads I've shot through mine (the Hornady's, Winchester WB 110gr SJHPs and Federal 158gr jacketed soft points) the Federal's are by far the hottest recoiling ones (according to Federal about 1240 fps). They also have the most muzzle blast.

I plan on shooting at least one cylinder full of the Speer's soon so I will post a report.

I don't have an entry yet but I did do some DA shooting today with my 649-5. Shot some Federal 158gr semi jacketed soft points. Shot ten rounds in DA. Done OK. Rain storm hit literally as I shot the last round so the target got drenched along with us. It was nothing to brag about really and only had eight holes actually on the target anyhow.

I had a couple of pretty bad finches right before the trigger broke(those rounds I shot are very hot, left a red place towards the bottom of my thumb after just 20 shots!). Otherwise it looked like about a five inch group. Shot at 21' however. Had it not rained I probably would have tried for 50' and made an entry.

Perhaps a somewhat lighter load would help control the flinch, before it becomes hard set? ;)
Well you are probably right but they are all I really had to shoot that I can replace fairly easy. I didn't have any standard pressure .38s and the only other .357s I have are SD bullets and some 180gr hard cast Vital Shoks.

Lately I have been finding standard pressure 38's, mostly in 158 round nose lead, at both LGS and big box stores. They will do for punching paper, and they are pretty cheap. ;)

I don’t plan on entering any online shooting contest however I thought that some people visiting this thread might be interested in seeing what some very small and very large snubbies can do.

I shot this 7 shot 15 yard group off-hand using a 3” Model 317. Allen-frame was with me at my local range when this took place. The group measures less than ½”.
At the other end of the caliber scale I have a 25 yard 3 shot group fired from my 2 5/8” Model 460 magnum using 454 Casull ammo. The 2 shot group has the rounds touching each other and adding the third shot (under the tape and above the other 2 shots) the 3 shot group is approximately 1 ¼”. Oh yeah, I shot this group at a moving target as you can see in the 2nd YouTube video listed below.

My LGS usually has Federal American Eagle in .357 and .38. The .38s are usually 130 or 158gr lead round nose. I buy them on occasion but they are usually only a couple dollars cheaper than the magnums.

I think the next time I stop in there I will get a box of .38s for my double action shooting. I need to get some anyhow to keep on hand for my wife to practice with her Charter Arms DAO 2" .38.

Standing unsupported @15 yards with the LaserGrip. The vertical spread is 2-1/4." Horizontal was 1-3/8."

I made the targets a little too small for irons.

So far it does best with Hornady 158gr XTP's, but Remington UMC 130gr is all I've got for range use.

That is awesome shooting Rick. I think you might be five feet too short but I also don't think it would have mattered.

Thanks. The range is graduated in five yard, not foot increments.

There's still plenty of room for improvement.

Thus passes the light of August, and with it the opportunity to compete in this contest! Congrats to the winner in August!
