Congrats on a fine LadySmith. Looks like she wanted that little extra touch to make it hers.

Big question is, are you changing your name to match?
(Sorry, I just had too :D )

Small world...I handled that exact same gun at the Berea, Ohio gun show on Saturday. I passed on it due to the fact that my name isn't Elaine. I will say it was super clean and the price was right. Glad to see it went to a good home among the members here. Congrats, Bob.

Elaine Vinyard?
There is an Elaine's Vineyard, i.e. wine maker.
I'm guessing it was a personalized etching but tastefully done and matches the other etching. I agree with SAFireman. I'd bet it was done at the S&W factory?

Yep, I'd call that a very tasteful personalization. :)

But now I'm wondering... why did she sell it?

From HEART and HANDS Wine company--
The ELAINES'S VINEYARD wine selection is a tribute to the late Elaine Hazlitt - a pioneer in the Finger Lakes wine industry, whose constant smile and unwavering strength provided inspiration to all who knew her.
The vineyard overlooks the eastern shores of Seneca Lake, and has a slight slope. Vineyard Manager, John Santos is well known in the region as an innovator who has a deep understanding of the vines and vineyards he manages. He employs a "balanced vine" strategy in order to ensure appropriate yields, curtail excessive vigor, and deliver pinot noir grapes with intense flavors.

I'm thinking maybe this was her gun? All in all its a fine piece, I carry mine 80% of the time, and an interesting mystery!

The serial number is very close to my 5946. My 5946 was made in 2004 for a NYPD contract. They were still making 3913 LS's into the 2000s?

MTS Cop, yes I believe they produced the LS until 2004 or 2005

I hate people who carve their names into guns. Sorry for the strong opinion, but there it is. Nice 3913, but if it were mine, I'd have to remove the stupid chicky etching, including numb*&%s "Elaine whatever" ....before I'd find it acceptable.

But then, it isn't my gun.

IMO the extra graphics and personalization makes it a perfect candidate for a guilt free ccw..;)....that's the way I look at my 3913 NL because it wears repatriation markings on the frame from the batch that Iammo offered.:D

A quick Google check shows that there are/were multiple women in the USA with the name "Elaine Vinyard", including a woman who died at the age of 59 in 2011. My guess is that this tasteful engraving is not about an "Elaine's Vineyard" and just accidentally spelled wrong by the engraver... but rather, I'm betting it was done for an actual walking, talking, living person named Elaine Vinyard.

I'm not a "personalized" gun guy either. :o In fact, I'll go one step further and say that I'm not interested in any added markings on a gun including owner names or initials, agency names or initials, secret ID numbers or funky non-factory graphics. Just give me a nice, clean, non-personalized used gun and I'll be a happy camper. :)

"Guilt-free carry" to me means cheap, plastic, disposable wonder guns. :D

From the holy book of Supica and Nahas, 3rd Edition, published in 2006.

The 3913LS was produced from 1990 to "date". 2006 is about the time that S&W stopped producing 3rd Generation guns for public sale.

I have a question for the 3913 gurus what years did they package the 3913 LS with the delrin case my 3913 as shown above has a product code of 108290 but has the blue plastic case .

laser engraving

I can't find the box right now, but I believe that I have
a few guns in their boxes with a brochure from Smith and Wesson about Laser engraving.
You could send it back and they would personalize it to your
liking.
If I can find the brochure, I'll post it.
