Is model 28 an N frame?

Les;

That rig is for sure a sweet one. Please tell us a little more about the holster & belt. The attached pic is my Model 10 riding in a George Lawrence duty style holster which I combine with a Galco 2" belt for woods carry, camping, hiking etc. Obviously not CC.

I love your belt with loops and it appears to match the holster perfectly in tone and fit. I also like the relief cut for exposed trigger which just makes the GL good for me.

What brand and model number is your rig, if you don't mind?

I've got the K frame 4" covered, but will for sure keep my eye out for a "nicely aged" rig like yours for N frame....then I can maybe hike the Blue Ridge & Appalachian Trail (possibly bigger, meaner, bears than I'm used to in "flat-land furriner" woods around here).:D

The only barrel length available on the M58 was 4". The M57 came with 4", 6" and 8 3/8".

Correct. I mentioned that the "only .41" I have has the longer barrel and came with target stocks. It is a Model 57, with the 6" barrel.

My "at least" was clearly a mistake, since that is the only length available on the M&P variation of the .41 Magnum. Sorry for the confusion.

Here’s a couple of model 28-2’s, one with mangas and one with target stocks for comparison .

The right grips make a huge difference. My 28 has been in my sock drawer; I didn't like shooting it. New grips may earn it a trip to the range.

What makes you say it doesn't look like an N-Frame?

Does somebody here have a picture comparing J-, K-, and N-Frames?

K Frame
L Frame
N Frame

What do I do to get a picture to show in the message instead of as a thumbnail?

I think the look in the picture you attached, with the Magna stocks and the T Grip, is the classic large frame S&W look. Very nice pistol you have there . . .

I've always thought that Magnas look out of proportion on an N-Frame, but that is what they were usually sold with. Adding a Tyler T-Grip as pictured below ameliorates that situation, not to mention aids greatly in shootability, at least for me. Of course if I wanted to go all the way I could put the Target Stocks (foreground of the picture) on it.
