Is Sig becoming the new S&W of old?

I ended up buying two Swiss Police trade in's and later gave one to my son. They were $500 each and one of the two I got was like brand new so it was a super steal at that price.

About 4 years before that the German Police trade in P6's came in which were slightly modified P225's and they sold for $259 when they first came in. I bought two and later sold one and had the other one refinished and still only had $500 in it.

This is the German P6 after getting it redone.

That was a great price. I sold a P6 for $450 about two years ago. Like yours, it was undropped, as evidence by the hammer loop . . .

The P7...

Let me help you out with the appropriate answer.
Still, nothing shoots better than my P7.
I'd love a P7 of the m13 or whatever they are called.
It's one of three or four that I have made sure my wife knows what they're worth.
Okay, I'm up for a little education today. :) Never too old to learn ya know. :D

I think I just bought my very last 3rd Gen of 2016 this weekend. So in view of that, please tell me why my next pistol should be a P7. :D

Get your hands on one to shoot and you'll see. But it is a striker fired gun.

They are not made any more and typically priced at at least $1000

I have a lot of time on a friend's P226 Elite and rather like it but until SIG moves the slide stop where it belongs - above the trigger, where my thumb won't ride it - they will never out do S&Ws for me. I'd much rather reach for the slide safety/decocker than deal with the slide closed on an empty chamber.

So for me at least, no, SIG hasn't replaced S&W's products for me. CZ on the other hand...

I'd like to own a Sig 2xx series, if only they had ambidextrous decockers.

I don't bother decocking. As far as I'm concerned it can be done when the treat is gone and at that point it doesn't matter which finger or hand does it

That problem's solved.

Now, who wants to give me the money to buy a few?
I don't want that many. Just one of each caliber/capacity/variation.:D

BTW, ColbyBruce. I'm still envious of your collection.:(

I've carried and shot Sigs for years off and on since 1990. They are a wonderful piece of machinery and engineering. They are also a little heavy and have a higher bore axis, than say a Glock, so you may feel recoil lightly more.

IMHO I'd start with an old school P228 or P225 (P6). Get one in good shape, keep it in good shape and you can mostly likely get your $ back out of it if you decide to sell.

My refurbed P228, ignore white grease on the rails.

To answer the title question, not until I can buy nice condition LEO trade-in Sigs for $249.00.
All I find are rather rough-looking trade-ins for around $500.00.

Since the only threat is a target with no holes. I like to draw from holster and fire DA, decock and do it again.

You enablers aren't going to be happy until I have a few Sigs, are you?

As far as paper punching goes, I have a 52-1. :D
Need I say more?

I have three of them, a 1911, a P226 9mm, and a 938. The 226 slide is off at Robar right now getting NP3'd. The 1911 is a bedside gun and the 938 rides my pocket all the time. Good guns.

... I only own smiths ...
TD

I can't imagine owning only 1 brand. You need to part with some of those S&W's and explore the field.

Variety is the spice of life! Go for a Sig. While your add it - get a Glock, a H&K, a Springfield, a colt..... :D

Good luck!

I'd say same way as all the other lefties in law enforcement and military do it

It ain't that hard. When broken down to their simplest, many operations with firearms are actually faster and safer left handed. The only right-handed firearms that I do not use are bolt action rifles.

All I'm gonna say is... I blame reading Tom Clancy for my interest in Sigs... last year I didn't even have a 9mm by anyone, and now my Sigs and 9 mils are multiplying like rabbits! I'm a big 3rd gen Smith fan, but the first time I saw a Sig field stripped I was sold... let's just say I have more than one! [emoji1303][emoji41][emoji1303]
