Is the gun run ending? Maybe!

This crisis is making me do crazy things.

I went into an Academy store and found a shelf full of .38 Super ammo and nothing else. I bought it at $22.00 a box of 50 rounds, only I didn't own a .38 Super gun. So I bought a beautiful Colt Enhanced Government in stainless steel....in .38 Super.

After I picked up this beautiful 1911 I went back to the Academy to get a few more boxes of .38 Super but they were out. As I was leaving I happened to walk past the gun counter and they had exactly 1 pistol.... A Springfield XD-E in .45acp so I had to buy that because I have an ample supply of .45acp ammo on hand.

I seemed to have done the same thing, but only one gun.
Cimarron 45LC because I have a bunch of the ammo.

I wonder if I have the dealers scratching their heads as to why their 7.62 Russian Nagant revolver shells are selling so well. I have been stocking up so I can play with my Finnish captured Nagant revolver.

Panic buyers create a panic environment. I am not a collector, so I don't have any of the considerations that would go into that. I have bought what I wanted/thought I needed (which is another way of saying "wanted") as they came around and it was reasonably fiscally prudent. There is only one gun for which I am waiting, a rifle I ordered over 4 months ago and has been slow to come.

Likewise ammo. I am adequately set on both for anything I can foresee. I am more likely to run out of my prescriptions first. I caught some grief a on this forum a while back because I bought 600 rounds of one load at a pop - a member wanted to know why I thought I would need "that much". Well, it is not much, and it really just enough for a low use caliber I happen to have. Most ammo I buy in cases, often several at a time, because one cannot make an appointment for an emergency. If you have wasted money on something like golf instead of buying ammo, don't come whining to me when your fouled up priorities turn out to have real impacts.

Why does everybody always pick on the golfers ? I play and buy my ammo by the case !

I guess I'm really lucky here in my little corner of the world. LGS is stocked to the brim with pretty much anything you want and they are a large shop as well. No real problem as far as ammo supply and such, I can get what I want there when I want it. Maybe it's because they're the main shop in the region that supports the surrounding LE depts.

I have enough iron and ammo that I don't need to worry about supply for some time.....may sell a couple pieces since prices seem to be up there these days....also have sufficient reloading components to put a few thousand more rounds together.....As a bargain hunter, now ain't the time to be doind any serious shopping.

I just bought a Howa 6.5 Creedmor with a beautiful walnut stock for $470 and a Sig 365 with thumb safety for $499 so prices are not bad you just have to look a while for a sale. I think ammo may be tricky to get for some time especially 9m/m and .223/5.56 but its not too difficult and the prices are OK. I was stocked up pretty well but I'm going to stock up even more on those two calibers.

Where is this little corner? Several of us are curious.:D Larry

I am in need of a gun that shoots 45 acp. Other than one Bond arms I have nothing in 45 and find nothing short of high dollar 1911s and one 45 Shield that is over priced by $150. I have over 1000 Rounds of 45 and just not up to using it two shots at a time in the Bond. Well I guess something will turn up.

My LGS has 2 SDS 1911, Turkish manufacture. Very reasonably priced. One is a pretty darn close copy of the M1911A1 of WWII, the other is a standard blued 1911. They have a good rep, seem solid. Try looking for those if possible.

Why would we want the gun run to end? I'm all about more people participating in the 2nd amendment. Maybe the manufacturers of ammo need to step it up a bit more to keep up.

This crisis is forcing me to do some panic buying....at least that's how I'm explaining it to my wife.

Never let a crisis go to waste!

Stopped into Brownells retail store today. Noticeably fewer handguns of all types on display than they had last winter. Was advised that if I see something I want I should buy it now because the supply of handguns is drying up. Also there was no popular pistol ammo on the shelf at all.

One thing to remember folks....most if not ALL of our lead goes to China to be processed....we cant process it in the US as of 2012......

Ammo manufactures that had a decent lead supply can keep producing but only for so long without new lead.

Another ammo issue is for the past 10 or so years everyone has "dumped" their .40/45ACP guns and gone to 9mm......

When 90% of the population wants one caliber......price is gonna go very high.

I have always been a proponent of having multiple calibers....buy 500/1k rounds a pay period for one.....after a bit ammo adds up.

Always better to have options and diversify your calibers.

I just bought some 7.62 Nagant revolver shells. I already have a pretty good stash of .455 Webley shells.
